Hi all,

we've been scheduled an interview at the Montreal Consulate next month. We were under the impression that the petitioner should be present at the interview but read on the consulate website about the visitor policy. Does anyone know if that means that the petitioner can't be present with the applicant? Or does that just apply to other family members?

~~moved to US embassy and consulate discussion from IR1/CR1 process and procedures.~~

The petitioner CAN be present but it's not necessary. Montreal does allow for USC petitioners to accompany their spouses, however remember you're the one being interviewed.

Many of us do not have our spouses present for the interview.

There is a chance your spouse might be turned away if the waiting room is crowded. If you're fine with this, then bring your spouse but as the previous poster said, most of us don't bring our significant others.

Hello,

I seen Montana on your info stats. I am from Montana but have been living in Canada for the past 17 years. We will be moving to Montana soon.

My husband had his interview recently in Montreal and I was able to go to the first window where you hand in your paperwork but I had to stay in the waiting area while he had the interview.

If you have any other questions just let me know and I will try to help. Us Montanans should stick together.

I just had my interview in Montreal and I went alone - I saw couples there but only the person getting visa was interviewed so really a waste of time.

The interview was 7 minutes. I interviews Jan 11 and have my visa already. The whole process from start to finish took 13 months. The key is to be organized etc - it costs quite a bit of money being from Alberta but we knew this in regards to Montreal the medical etc. Everyone was amazing and professional and so nice. Good luck to everyone - I really was overprepared for everything / but better than not.????
