H1B at Montreal, Canada

Hi Everyone,

I was interviewed at Montreal, on Dec. 11, 2015, but there is still no any update until today (Jan. 16, 2016).

Is there anyone having the similar issues? What's the typical timeline in Montreal?

I am a postdoc in US with H1B visa for 20months.

I came to Canada for a conference, and was planning to go back to US by using the automatic revalidation.

Unfortunately, my backpack was stolen with my passport and I797. I then applied for a travel document from the consulate of my homeland and used it for applying a new visa stamp.

I know there is a website http://www.checkee.info where we can report our status, but most cases are applied in China.

Could you tell me your status here or report to that website?

My visa was finally issued. For your reference:

First updated: Jan. 18, 2016
Second updated: Jan. 19, 2016

Still waiting for the travel document.

Note:
The FAQ in the website of Ottawa Embassy says:

I am working in the U.S. May I come to Canada to renew my work visa?

It is always best to apply for a visa in your home country. However, you may request an appointment for a visa interview at any consular office in Canada (with the exception of the Consulate in Montréal).

So, I guess Montreal is not a good place to renew your visa. They process a lot of immigration visas and it will take longer.
