buried in the I-864 instructions,

is a bit about beneficiary sponsorship,

where the beneficiary has 5 times the amount needed, in cash or convertible-to-cash instrument.

say the poverty line for 2 people was 22,000? show cash in an account for 110,000 usd and yer golden !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

No. The petitioner (your wife) will fill out an I-864, as she is the petitioner. You will be one of her household members on her I-864, and she can add your income into her household income (and your assets into her household assets) on her I-864.

You need to show sufficient assets to meet the requirement or an income that will continue when you move to the US that meets the requirement.

Your US citizen spouse will file the I-864 so the household count will be the 2, more if she has any minor children, dependents listed on her tax return, or has sponsored anyone else in recent years.

Neither USC income ovrseas or beneficiary's income overseas counts.

Take your wife's income and subtract it from the poverty guideline amount. You need to come up with 5 times the difference.

What counts is this: Stocks, bonds, cash, and major assets such as home, vehicle, etc that can be sold within one year for cash.

Your wife still has to fill out the I864, she just has to declare your assets with her income (if any). No matter your job in your home country, your income is considered zero in the US.

K1 is the I 134

I self sponsored that but that is an oddity.

I do not know what the OP's situation is but it is possible to count the immigrants income depending on the individual circumstances, or savings/investments.

yup, as the adjudication rules for the I-864 are utilized when the Vice-Consul adjudicates the I-134.

Wonder why he told you that?

He said that to make the poverty line this past year since my fiance works when he wants and mostly travelled last year that I should front load my application with my assets. Do you think I should get a cosponsor just to be sure for the interveiw on the 27th?
