What to do before leaving the UK

Hi

Is there a comprehensive list of things to do before leaving the UK?

The visa process is so absorbing I am distracting myself by making a list of who I need to notify, the pinned thread seems to focus on the changes to UK immigration?

A lot of stuff will be done when my house sale completes but is there anything I need to do in addition for moving abroad?

So far I have:

Tax man - fill out the form once I get my P45

Change the address on my bank accounts to mums

Clear all debts and cancel credit cards

Change the address on my driving licence

Set post redirect

Notify my pension provider

Tell doctor/hospital/dentist

Cancel insurances

Do I need to let state pension know?, anything I missed?

If you have student loans via the SLC you'll also have to notify them.. and probably get a hard time.

Ditto I filed my P-85 and got a lovely present from the tax man!

Blew it all at Xmas though lol

Cancel the TV licence.

Go through your direct debits and see which services you need to cancel such as Netflix, etc.

When / how do you get P85?

Hubby says you have to download the P85 from the HMRC website https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/income-tax-leaving-the-uk-getting-your-tax-right-p85 Follow instructions and fill it in and it tells you what you need to send in with it. He sent it in a few days before he left the UK. :) Hope it helps!

eugh I can't get my P45 until end of Feb so I can't send the form yet!

I am the beneficiary originally from UK !!

eugh I can't get my P45 until end of Feb so I can't send the form yet!

Don't worry, my old UK employer sent my P-45 to the US and I filed the P-85 from here
