Police check for K-1

I heard some people are starting their police checks now. I just got my NOA1 and I know that NOA2s are coming pretty soon after unless there is an RFE (I hope not ) I'm just wondering if I should start doing my police check now? When I entered my NOA1 it said that I should expect NOA2 between February 22nd and 25th so going by that I would surely need it by beginning of march for the next part? It wouldn't hurt to start doing it now right?

I've already got my vacination record with a stamp from my GP but that's pretty much all I have done for the next step. My Fiance is visiting in march so I'm going to have him bring everything for the affidavit of support then. But I am trying to prepare for the next bit so I know what to ask him to bring.

Thanks Trudi, I'm going to start applying for it at the end of the month. How long does it take? I can't seem to find out how long it takes on the FAQ's on the website. Thanks

ETA: Never mind she said it was £45 for 10 working days and £80 for 2 working days. I called to ask about who can endorse my application as I didn't know any one with those professions on the list but the person I have they said is fine.

I can't remember exactly how long mine took to come through but it wasn't very long, maybe a week or 2

Remember to double check your vaccinations against the required list, if you need anything or a booster most people manage to get them done for free at the GP - if you leave it then you will have to pay at Knightsbridge

Thank you I already got my vaccination record printed and I don't need anything. But I am going to allow for any NHS discrepancies on what I do/do not need and take extra money to the medical just incase. I had my Dtap 5 times they said I don't need it again. Same with MMR.

If you don't have a date record of a DTaP or Td within the last 10 years, you are required one for immigration.

MMR is not a date dependent thing so two shots is complete.

My doctor will not give me DTaP as says I don't need it. Should I try and pay for it somewhere else or can I just do it at Knightsbridge?

For adults the version is Tdap or Td. You are okay with a Td in the last ten years. If you get it elsewhere now or at Knightsbridge you will be done for AOS without having a civil surgeon do a new vaccination form for you.

Even they said Tentnus, Diptheria and Polio they won't do it unless the nurse OKs it I am waiting to hear back if they will let me pay for it there or do it for free or not at all. If worst comes to worst I will do it at Knightsbridge.

Some children in the UK get a four shot combo which includes polio as well. But the polio part is not a concern.

Keep in mind that the US and UK/NHS have adopted different immunization requirements. You have to go by US requirements if you want to immigrate. So when your GP says you are good for life, it may not be true for life in the US. Ask your office nurse if you can have Td. It is probably the pertussis they are not wanting to give again. You are lifetime on pertussis. It is mostly the tetanus that needs an update, but the requirements say Td so go for Td. I know here they now tend to give Td combo instead of single tetanus. I cut myself badly and the clinic gave me a Td shot because I hadn't had a tetanus shot in 30 years.

Check prices for Td at Boots, Tesco, Sainsburys....anywhere with a clinic. The price at Knightsbridge is £45 for Tdap. They don't list a price for Td.
