Got an interesting Notice (I-797C) to NOT Apppear for Biometric

We had a Biometric Appointment Scheduled for Monday Jan 11. We did a walk in on Wednesday Jan 6 and did the Biometrics no problems or questions.

Today in the mail we received an I-797C tied to our I-765 Application for Employment Authorization. It reads as follows. Bold type is the USCIS

(USCIS) had received your form and is currently processing your application, petition or request. This notice informs you that USCIS is able to reuse your previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics. USCIS will run the same security checks and use your biometric data as in the past. however, it is not necessary for you to appear at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) for a biometrics appointment. The biometrics fee will not be refunded.

The notice was dated on Saturday January 9th (Postmark January 12). Funny how our government works. The notice was made on Saturday January 9 and our appointment was at 8:00am on Monday January 11th. How in the heck are we supposed to get the information they sent to us by snail mail (USPS) on the 12th???????

Has anyone else received a notice like this?

My wife had a B1/B2 Visa for a year and I know got a biometric on at least 3 occasions coming into the US.

Just interesting since I have not seen this posted that they waived the Biometric appointment

10/7/2015: Interview at Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City and APPROVED!!!!
10/22/2015 K1 Visa in hand. Son's K2 visa only valid for 6 months (W-T-F-?) Thought good for 1 year. Inquire at consulate and told visa good only as long as the medical which is 6 months K2 VISAS NOT GOOD FOR 1 YEAR AS ADVERTISED ON DOS WEBSITE!
10/29/2015 POE Chicago; Easiest pass through for Linh in her 4 previous entries.
11/2/2015: Not tuned in enough to Social Security not to pick "the first day of the month" to try to get signed up. Read VJ advice, it's spot on, we had a processor who knew K1. We were in the SAVE database in 3 days so it was easy after a 2 hour wait.

1/14/2016 Received a I-797C letter dated 1/9/2016 that we DO NOT need to do biometrics, already have enough information in the system from previous entries (Likely from B1/B2 visa last year)

2/9/2016 I-485 Application CARD ORDERED on 2/6/2016

2/10/2016 GREEN CARD SHIPPED on 2/9/2016 2/11/2016 GREEN CARD IN HAND!!! RECORD TIME 62 DAYS

AOS/AP/EAD Journey for Son on K-2 Visa

3/16/2016 All arrive in Chicago from Vietnam. Son passes customs with flying colors. Wife is delayed for 3.5 hours. Homeland Security lets us go with no questions... amazing. We miss our connections and get home thankfully at 1AM

4/11/2016 Package with Applications Send Fed Ex Overnight to Chicago and FedEx confirms delivery on 4/12/2016

4/26/2016 Received 3 emails and 3 text with Acceptance of confirmation of 3 applications. NOA1 Date 4/25/2016 WHAT IS GOING ON CHICAGO? Took 10 days longer than last time to just receive mail

4/27/2016 Check is cashed. Still can't look up Receipt Numbers on Case Status online at USCIS.GOV WHAT IS GOING ON?????

5/25/2016 Walk in for a "junior" Biometrics for an 11 year old (supposedly not required). Oops wrote down the wrong day, appointment was for 5/23/2016. USCIS office was nice and accepted us 2 days late.

7/13/2016 Finally the Check Status Website worked. Approved EAD and AP. Website still not working on AOS Green Card Application. No email notification at all....

7/15/2016 Card for EAD mailed. Card is for both EAD and AP. Received 7/19/2016. Waiting now for AOS Interview or Green Card Approval

7/19/2016 The USCIS.GOV is now working for our AOS application. Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Seems others have access to USCIS.GOV Check Case now. Glitch fixed?

8/15/2016 I-485 Approved. Status now Card/Document Production

8/20/2016 GREEN CARD DELIVERED -118 Days K-2 Process complete, see y'all on Lifting Conditions board in a year or so

Kyle and Lihn, you guys are just having all sorts of crazy fun with this immigration process, aren't you? Gosh, I sure hope you are one of the first ones to get the GC - I hope it comes before EAD/AP!

It sort of sounds like they scheduled a biometric appointment for Lihn, then at the last minute, found out that since they already had her data on file from her previous entries, canceled the redundant appointment. Oops!

sounds like you have a very efficient ASC office with hooks into a very efficienct USCIS data portal.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Very interesting happenings to us. The steps were....

We got the letter for the biometrics appointment on Dec 31. We were scheduled for Jan 11th in the Dec 31 letter.

We decided to walk in and had it done on Jan 6.

We get a letter on Jan 14 telling us that on Jan 9 they had enough data the we did not need to do the biometrics.

Then in a typical efficient government manner that letter was postmarked on Jan 12.

Yes I hope the ASC here in TN is efficient. We will see. At least we know they are looking at the file as of last week, so I think that is a good omen. Definitely not like the I-129F Black Hole in Texas.

Darnell: I have no clue on the ASC office here in Nashville, it seemed to me the biometrics were done in a 3 person operation in small office/warehouse complex so I think you are correct. I think we are actually assigned to the "Memphis Office" since on the USCIS website the location we did the biometrics does not appear.

Agree Yea!!! I hope it means our file is being processed and not setting in a box like it did in Texas for 6 months

My notice got sent back to the USCIS because the Post Office couldn't deliver it... I called the USCIS office and some guy told me he did not know why my notice could not be delivered BUT that he could request a copy of it for me over the phone. Now I am sitting here waiting.... he even gave me a ref # starting with T1F

I was going to do it myself on their website, but since I have NO idea what kind of notice it is, I wasn't able to do it. I already got my NOA1 and some pink piece of paper telling me they need more evidence. I'm applying for my change of status/green card, I got married last year. They accepted my forms and everything else... I hope it'll take less than 15 days for them to mail me the copy of the notice!

This is sooooooooooo frustrating... -sigh-

I'm praying that this notice has something to do with scheduling my biometrics!
