jayess21 - how'd you go about contacting and approaching your congressman about this?

Ive been waiting 86 days now for my EAD, and nothing yet :(

If you did not get RFIE, then you should put a service request by calling USCIS. Along with that call your Congressman's office and speak to the immigration expert. If she or he are willing to write on your behalf to the USCIS, it speeds matters up. You will be asked by the Congressman's staff to complete a privacy release form.

In my case, the Senator's office never wrote back but the Congressman's office did all the good work and it worked.

Also, if you got RFIE but have a job offer (my case), then you could request an expedite for EAD (see my timeline).

I contacted the Congressman's office this Monday, Mar. 28, got email from USCIS asking proof of job offer on Mar. 29 and responded immediately. Congressman's office also forwarded job offer to USCIS. Today, Mar. 31, I got email notification that EAD 'card being produced' and AP 'approved'.

Wow! Congratulations! Can you share some of your interview questions? What did you bring with you to the interview?

The majority of the interview was verifying the info on the forms submitted was accurate. We handed over 2 files; one with copies of chats, pictures, letters and a couple letters of support from family and friends, and the second with tax return copies, joint insurance and documents showing I was listed as beneficiary to my spouse's retirement/annuities, joint credit card accounts and money transfers to each other, and an updated employment letter for spouse with recent pay statements.

We were asked explain how our relationship came about, where the wedding took place, who attended the wedding, and if my spouse had met my family. Things went so smoothly that we forgot to show the officer our album of wedding pictures, but she had already said we were approved by the time we remembered it. She took a look at it anyway, and congratulated us again. All told, it was about 25mins - 15 of which was paperwork review.

Have my EAD in production today. I did not request to expedite.

My AP status did not change, but I did not write a letter to explain why they should approve me. Does it affect anything?

Lulu123 - if you mailed your AP and EAD forms together then it will all come as one card. Sometimes, as I've read on this forum, they don't update it but you'll still get both in the mail in the form of 1 card.

My question to you is whether the card has a tracking number associated with it or not - so that you can check on its whereabouts.

Did u hear anything from USCIS regarding that?

  • 04/04/2016: Text notification for I-765 that 'card was mailed' (Day 75)
  • 04/05/2016: Notice of Approval of EAD/AP received in the mail (Day 76)
  • 04/07/2016: EAD/AP card received (Day 77) 
  • 07/05/2016: Interview notice received for 08/09 in Boston USCIS (Day 166)
  • 08/09/2016: Interview. Approved on the spot (Day 201)
  • 08/11/2016: Online update that card was mailed (Day 203)
  • 08/15/2016: Approval notices of I-485 and I-130 received in the mail. Hours later, green card also received in the mail. (Day 207) 
  • 08/25/2016: Applied for new SSN card without DHS restrictions

Quick update on my EAD: "New card is being produced" :dance:

I-485 AOS

10/01/2015: Got married!!!

01/04/2016: Sent AOS package (I-130/ I-485/ I-765) to USCIS Chicago Lockbox via USPS

01/06/2016: AOS package was delivered at USCIS Chicago Lockbox

01/13/2016: Received 3 text/email notifications from USCIS

01/14/2016: Check cashed out by USCIS

01/19/2016: Received official NOAs in the mailbox

01/29/2016: Received biometric letter in the mailbox scheduled for 2/8/2016

02/08/2016: Biometric appointment done

03/25/2016: Received email/text notification: "Interview is scheduled for 04/26/2016"

04/02/2016: Update on EAD: "New Card is being produced"

04/07/2016: Received EAD card in the mail.

04/26/2016: AOS interview done. Got approved on the same date. :dance:

06/07/2016: Status update: "Card was mailed to me"

06/09/2016: Green card received.

I'm glad things are moving for most of us.

Ive been "ready for interview" for 2 weeks now and have not yet heard anything back from the houston field office regarding an interview.

for those of you that have your dates or have done your interviews - any feedback on how long it took them to give u a date?

1/15/2019 - Received notice of acceptance via email

1/19/2019 - Online notice received that biometrics was scheduled

2/04/2019 - Biometrics Appointment schedule and completed this day

2/05/2019 - Update on website that biometrics received and no information needed at this time

6/24/2019 - Online Update that Interview is Scheduled

6/26/2019 - Document available online - Interview scheduled for 7/29/2019

7/29/2019 - Interview.... approved!

8/24/2019 - Oath Ceremony
