Checking Green Card Production Status

Hi all,

I've done quite a bit of searching and found some others who had similar questions, but never an actual answer.

My wife received her CR-1 Visa on December 21, 2015.

She paid the $165 fee on December 22, 2015.

She entered the USA on a CR-1 on December 23, 2015.

She received her updated Social Security Card in the mail the first week of Jan (she already had a SSN from when she worked as a student in the USA).

We have not received anything from USCIS in the mail - no welcome letter or Green Card.

I've seen a number of threads that say we can check the status online at the ELIS website. Can anyone clarify how to actually do this? When I go to the payment site (https://www.uscis.gov/uscis-elis/log-online-filing), I click on " To receive status updates on the production of your permanent resident card, please visit Case Status Online." but then what should we enter at the case status online?

The Number I have that works, from our initial petition, just says the same thing it always has - the petition was approved on August 18. Should this end up updating once they've done something, or should I be using a different receipt number? The tracking numbers we have from the receipt for the payment don't work here.

To confirm payment, I tried paying again, and when I entered the Department of State numbers and A#, the website told me the Fee has already been paid.

Am I completely missing something? It's been 3 weeks, no letter from USCIS, and I can't figure out how to check status? I thought we were done with worrying about every little thing, but I guess not! (I'd like to add my wife to my bank account, but Chase won't let me without her physical green card. They won't accept the visa + stamp).

Ok, quick update, but I'm still confused.

I found a receipt number on the confirmation page for the payment (Though this number was NOT sent in the confirmation email).

It has a NEW USCIS ReceiptNumber starting with the letters IOE. The problem now is that when I enter this Receipt number at the USCIS Check status page, I get an error that says " Validation errors, you must correct the following error(s) before proceeding: *User-Defined Error".

Anyone had this problem. Ideas on what to do??

My wife's information is clearly somewhere in the system since the SSA sent her an updated card 2 weeks ago.

Thanks

*** Thread is moved from the CR-1 Process forum to the General Immigration Discussion forum, where green card status is typically discussed. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Going on 6 weeks here with no update. I had to log into the account I set up and enter the IOE number there. Not too worried about getting the actual green card. Though I will make an inquiry after 60 days.

The visa and endorsement are the interim green card so dont know why some entities have a problem accepting that. Have had to email state and corporate offices to get local offices to accept it.

Yes, its nice to know your in the system, my state id automatically issued thru year 2022 cause the state system shows I have a 10 year I-551.

I am also having a problem with this.

They say my "IOE" receipt number doesn't exist.

But has your wife been here for more than 60 days already?

According to USCIS, follow up only after 60 days of arrival in US.

Mine has been 70 days.

So I reached out to www.egov.uscis.gov/cris/contactus

I received a call the day after. She just told me my Green Card was deduced 11th of January. But I didn't receive anything.

So she said she would follow up. Hope I actually get a feedback from them in the next 15 days as she mentioned.

Hello, everyone.

Does it really possible for uscis to retake your finger print after entering the United States through consular processed.

I came in as an immigrants since March 2015 up till datend I don't receive my green card.

I keep on calling uscis. The story are too much.

If they didn't tell you that it still on production, they will tell you. About another biometric.

I am so confused can anyone help?

So after how long dd you get your green card? Did the user defined error message ever change to show if they mailed it out? Thanks.

So, my wife and I are going through your exact story Snakebite.  We have been waiting almost 11 months for the green card.  I can't track anything through the IOE number they gave us, no one can explain anything when I call other than "keep waiting" and the Detroit field office was less than useful.  Did you eventually get your wife's green card?

Thanks,

Jon

I got the same error when I tried to check the status of the green card. It seems there is always a problem although i remember checking two weeks ago and there was an update but now I only get an error.

I am not sure how others with this problem are progressing, but I wanted to give an update on what we did.

I got in touch with my state Senator.  I sent an email, and they called me the same day.  The person that was helping me contacted USCIS, they confirmed everything was done, but that they just were not working on mine.  We had my wife's green card within a month.  It is ridiculous that it takes a Senators prodding, but it did the trick.  I highly suggest this route for anyone that has waited a couple months longer than they were told.  USCIS has so many people that don't have a clue what is actually supposed to happen, but is frustrating and disappointing.

Good luck!

My guess with this is that they are currently prioritizing other cases. Even though all it would take is "a click" to move it forward to production it takes an actual person being assigned to it and spouses are good for a year with the stamp in their passport. I'm not saying it's an excuse or that I agree with the prioritization, just that it's a plausible explanation since this increase in waiting time is quite recent - basically since the new administration and the resulting surge in applications.
