new I-751 is very poorly written and difficult to understand

Has anyone filled out the new I-751 form? This thing is an absolute mess. A good part of the form has no instructions for it.

Whose information goes in Part 4, the US Citizen or my wife's, the LPR??

It seems to me it should be by my wife who is the LPR.

This part is filled out by the spouse who is not removing conditions.

I don't think that's accurate because part 8 then wants the information from part 4. When you fill out part 4 it automatically populates that name (my wifes name into part 8.

Notice in part 3 that the conditional resident is removing conditions through a marriage to a US citizen or a lawful permanent resident. Therefore the info for part 4 is related to the person the conditional resident married.

I see that as well. But then look at part 8. It just doesn't make any sense and they included no instructions for a majority of the form which is now 11 pages long.

Who is the petitioner on this form? I thought I (the US Citizen) am the petitioner as with the last forms. Is my wife now the petitioner and I am the spouse???

I just wish they would have made the instructions clear before rolling out this new form. I work for the government and I will say I am not a bit surprised.

Yes. The one removing conditions is the one petitioning for the removal of those conditions. The US citizen is the spouse.

That question 8 really is a doozy since it is the conditional resident whose fingerprints and photos will be taken. What a headache! :P

Ohhhhh. Well that explains it a little more. I didn't realize my wife (LPR) is the petitioner. Thanks so much for your help.

Part 4- This should really not be complicating, but the USCIS's wordings on this question is very confusing. Some of the answers also given are also confusing.

Is Part 4 of the I-751 (new form) answered by the person seeking ROC or the U.S. citizen married to the person filing for ROC, I would think this should be a simple answer, I too am very confused as I need a 100% for sure answer as I am in the process of sending in my wife's ROC first week in February.

Please, a solid confirmed answer would be greatly appreciated to me and many others out there. I am the american citizen helping my wife to ROC. I answered and completed Part 4 1a through 6h as the U.S. citizen. Am I right in doing this, or do I need to redo it with my wife's information who is the 2 year green card holder.

Thank you for the best and most correct answer.

Thank you

Part 8 and Part 4 is the spouse of conditional permanent resident. Part 7 needs to be filled by conditional permanent resident.

My husband and I just sent off our i-751 with the new form; we did indeed list my (I'm the US citizen) information in part 4 and I signed on part 8. Our check was just cashed, so I would assume we filled out the form correctly.

This form really is not done very well at all -- we filled out the form by hand so we could write 'N/A' or 'NONE' in spaces that otherwise wouldn't allow us to do so.

The first area of Part 8 is totally wrong. My wife's biometric appointment letter (which we received this week) is CLEARLY only for her, not for me. Yet the first section of Part 8 of the new I-751 refers "my ASC appointment" and indicates that I'll be providing biometric data and signing the "Acknowledgement of Appointment at USCIS Application Support Center".

As I said, that's totally wrong, but fortunately this is just an informational area.

This response is if you are ROC based on marriage to a USC. Part 1 and Part 7 is the person with the conditional GC that needs to remove conditions (Petitioner). Part 4 and 8 is the US spouse (Spouse).

Also, the key part of the application is to make sure that if you the USC (Spouse), completing this application for the Petitioner, complete the statement listing your name in Part 7 and complete the Preparer's section in Part 10.
