Hey everybody...

I am the beneficiary of a K-1 visa. I sent in my AOS and got my NOA-1 on Nov. 12th. I am still waiting for my biometrics letter, it has been over two months now. Is this normal? I tried filing a form on USCIS and it said I could not because my case wasn't outside of processing times, and I tried calling the line on my NOA-1 but I couldn't figure out how to get a human.

Make sure you check online - on your NOA1, you should have a receipt number (or two or three, depending on if you submitted your EAD and AP with it) that might be something like MSC57849375378248329.

Use this website: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do and check the status. I submitted my AOS + EAD in the middle of November 2015, received my NOA1 in late November, then my Biometrics letter in early December. I had the appointment in late December. It may vary from state to state, and case to case, but the website provides you with the USCIS's current progress with your case. If they sent the Biometrics, it is likely mentioned there.

Hey thanks but I already checked and there was nothing on there about biometrics. Will it be updated on there or do you think perhaps they lost my file?

If what it says is something like this:

On Month XX, 20XX, we received your Form I-XXX, Application for Blah Blah, Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXX, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by Month XX, 20XX, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go towww.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Then you probably just need to wait for them to send it. If your NOA is like mine, it'll say something like, we've received it and we'll send you a notice for your Biometrics appointment later, you need to wait for this before you go to a Biometrics centre etc etc...

I can't say for sure, because mine has now progressed and says something else, but I believe the USCIS website will say that they've sent the Biometrics letter when they do.

Give them a call if you're worried, but this process seems to be a very tedious waiting game. You worry and worry, and then all of a sudden they send you something saying 'oh hey, here's the next step' and the worry was for nothing.

I think you're okay! You're in their system, they wouldn't have lost your file.

On November 12, 2015, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCxxxxxxx. Our National Benefits Center location is working on your case. We mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Thank you! Its ok, I am just glad my application won't be denied or something. I read somewhere someone missed their biometrics appt because they never got the letter and then their application was denied. Scary.

Hey guys, maybe somebody can help me... So the lady on the phone from uscis said I would get my biometrics notice in 30 days, but this week I got an email from my local office saying my papers are still at NBC. What does this mean? Why would they hold it there for two and a half months? Does this mean I won't get my notice after all? I really would appreciate any insight

that's just weird. can you, instead, get into a local uscis office via infopass and talk with the shift supervisor behind the glass? They have higher-level, almost-God access on the computer, and can move things along. Even tell you if a biometrics letter was returned.

Usually if a casefile is still with the national benefits center, you prolly aren't getting a green card interview, so that's a plus.

IMO, the email you got back was the result of the service request, nothing more. When a clerk says '30 days' like that, it's always about the outcome of the service request, and NEVER about movement on the actual thing you are asking about. It's tedious, personally chapped my @#s when was putting in service requests.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Well... I'm getting frustrated over here. I was supposed to get a notice from the USCIS but it appears that the Post Office "could not deliver it". I checked my status yesterday and it said "Notice was returned to the USCIS because the Post Office could not deliver it. This could have a serious effect on your case". So, I called them yesterday about this and this guy told me he would request a copy of the notice then told me to just sit and wait. Now I'm freaking out! I just read on here that someone got denied because they didn't show up for the biometrics because they never got the letter! That is just ridiculous!!! I don't know what to do. All I have right now is a set of numbers (reference numbers) starting with T1F. Wth do I do with it???? Should I call them back on Monday and ask about my biometrics??? I already got my NOA1 and a pink piece of paper letting me know that they need more evidence for my form I-485... I'm working on it. Still, I am very confused, it's not fair we pay for THEIR freakin mistakes!

sometimes an alternative usps carrier human not know that you live there,

so

put a name card on your mailbox/slot that contains all names of the humans that live there.

if you aren't working and can meet up with the postal carrier, say daily for a week, introduce yourself, give over some nice cookies and brownies, get your name into their brain.

no, i'm not kidding. undeliverable by usps ? thats a packet of half yer username, instead it's a human problem.

Thanks for the tip, Darnell.

I just came back from the Post Office. They know me there... I told them what was going on and they had me write down my name, address and apartment # on a piece of paper. Also, I just checked my mail box and the mail guy put down my name inside my mail box so that next time somebody sends me mail, he makes sure it gets to me instead of sent back.

I hope the USCIS doesn't screw up anything... those people tend to make mistakes quite often. I mean, getting denied because you never got the damn letter in the first place!??? R I D I C U L O U S!
