AOS Interview

Ok, I have this HUGE file of things to show for myself (insurance forms, car titles in both names, insurance, cell phones..etc, etc

Now my daughter..thats a different story. She's 7, so nothing really to show for her. I have insurance papers showing she is covered on health/dental, and letters and cards from her aunts and grandparents in Canada, and that's it! I've included her report cards from school, awards she's won (showing she's adjusting in the USA)

I'm worried that I dont have enough evidence for her case!

Hmm. Do K2s require nearly as much evidence as their non-USC parent? I'm assuming because you are mom, they'll look at the relationship to you and your relationship to your husband more than who she is? Maybe I'm wrong, I've never done K2.

Photographs of her together with family and friends is probably another important one to include. Any cards, letters, etc. with her address on them. Maybe if she has a child's saving account? Stubs for plane tickets or train tickets that prove she's travelled along with you?

No stubs, I haven't travelled or used my AP. She travelled back to Canada once at Christmas as an unaccomp minor, and I have the stub from that and she has the stamp from re-entry in her passport as well as on her AP. She has no child's saving's account because she doesn't have a SSN, and the bank requires one before they will assist us, She has cards and letters from Family addressed to her, and she's in most pictures we have...but beyond that..nada. I dont know how important evidence is for a K2, but i can definetly tell u that I am stressing and losing sleep over this. Even her interview letter has nothing to directly do with her in terms of evidence to bring. Her letter is identical to mine except that her names on her letter, and her appointment is 30 minutes after mine. She's only 7, it's not like she has any real way to show she's established herself here in the USA.

Other than the documents that were required to submit the AOS, we weren't asked for anything regarding our daughter at the AOS interview. Wife and daughter had interview at same time. Believe the child is kind of along for the ride on the AOS. If the K-1 is approved the child is approved too, unless the child has aged out.

If the child is being interview at the same time as the parent I would just take the child's passport and birth certificate. The child doesn't need to prove anything other than being the K-1's child.

I wont have much to show for my son either Tamz.

I dont think they really ask for any proof when it comes to the K-2. I mean she is only 7 like you said.

I am sure you will be fine.

My son does have his EAD but he is 17. He also has a SSN now. So that really is all we will have to bring with him.

I think what you have to bring with you will do fine.

My K-2 daughter's AOS interview was just a few weeks ago, and I didn't need to show anything other than her passport, and I think her birth certificate. My daughter is 18, and had no bank account or anything proving that she actually really does live in the US, so I'm sure you'll be fine with a 7-year old.

K-2's are very simple, it's the mother/father that has to prove the real relationship with the USC.

This was 4 years ago, but I think the scheduled interview times were back to back like yours, but they called us all in at the same time.

Thanks! I can't wait for this 2 year break from USCIS! I have just finished arranging then re-arranging all the evidence and files. I've gone from trying to find place for 1000+ pictures, down to my favorite pictures, so basically 10 wedding photo's, 10 vacation photo's, and 10 "what the heck were we doing" photo's.

I was referring to not waiting like other people to when it's time to file the I-751 and then start trying to gather evidence. That's what you should be doing over the next two years. Get a folder and start sticking stuff in there that you think you might be able to use when the time comes.

I was referring to not waiting like other people to when it's time to file the I-751 and then start trying to gather evidence. That's what you should be doing over the next two years. Get a folder and start sticking stuff in there that you think you might be able to use when the time comes.
