Where I am In FL you must make an appointment to apply for your concealed carry permit. I called this week and the county office is currently making appointments for mid March. Going directly to the FL dept of Agriculture (the folks that are in charge of issuing CCW) gets you an appointment in mid February.

Background checks at my local FFL are taking much longer. Picked up a gun today and my guy was waiting on hold for nearly a half hour for the background check confirmation. He also told me he had been delivering more guns than ever before by a large margin.

Just curious, why the department of Agriculture?

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

Just curious, why the department of Agriculture?

Good question and I am not really sure of the answer, but the complete name of the division is The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

From their website:

It is the responsibility of the division to protect the public from unethical business practices on the part of persons providing private security, private investigative and recovery services to the public through licensure and regulation of those industries pursuant to Chapter 493, Florida Statutes.

In addition, the division is responsible for the issuance of Concealed Weapon or Firearm Licenses in accordance with Section 790.06, Florida Statutes.

"A lot of people have been denied wrongly, perhaps because of mistaken identity, inefficient court records or records that weren't filled out properly," said Pearson. "We've got cases of people who never had an (domestic abuse) order of protection issued against them, but someone who had a similar name did. The purpose is to get all this straightened out and run things more accurately."

Hal Baskin Sr., a former gang member who is now an Englewood community activist, would not speculate as to why his application was denied.

A Tribune review of Baskin's criminal record in Cook County found that he was convicted in 2003 of misdemeanor resisting/obstructing a police officer in an incident that occurred in 1998. He was sentenced to six months of court supervision.

Records also show that Baskin has been arrested four times in the past 10 years. The arrests largely resulted in misdemeanor charges involving altercations with police. In each case, the charges were either dropped or he was found not guilty. Baskin said the arrests were related to his work as an activist.

Part of being an activist involves the occasional run-in with police, he said, but he believes his record shouldn't disqualify him from carrying a gun.

I read about another one of them. He was one of the ones who sued the state of Illinois, because he only had two resisting arrest charges and felt that his civil rights were being violated because the board turned down his application.

Cry "racist wolf" continually and nonstop for a couple of years straight and eventually you just look like an idiot.

Back to topic - been turned away from the drivers license line, which in my view is more important than CC permit line. Wasn't because of any reason but that the line is too long.

What, like voting? Sucks to get turned away from the polls when you've waited in line for hours, especially since unlike a CC permit, there's no chance to do it on the next day.

No kidding

Nope, Google black people denied cc in ill.

I did. There are a lot of stories about black people (and white people) in Illinois with records who have rejected applications suing for their right to carry guns.

There is no story about a black person (or any person) being denied the right to apply because of their skin color.

Because they're going to say flat out they won't issue them because their black. That's like someone saying they hate a person because they study Islam here. You don't have to say it, but it's obvious.

One such example, Michael Thomas was puzzled that as a former Air Force reservist who routinely carried a gun during military service and has never had a run-in with the law, was turned down, even though the law does not afford police the discretion to deny permits to those who meet the prerequisites and who are not legally prohibited. But Thomas is just one of more than 800 people who have been denied licenses by the board. This board meets behind closed doors and keeps its records and reasoning secret. Even when applicants meet all the criteria, the board says they have no obligation to explain themselves… even when it seems clear that the only disqualifying factor is the color of the applicant’s skin.

Well the topic was about a Muslim in the United States, not the middle east. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Say how's it going over there by the way?

LOL I applied exactly the same set of thread rules. I didn't like it when you did it either and care as little for your argument here as you did mine there.

It's quiet but tense and we're limiting our presence in public. There is a heavy security presence here and in Bahrain.

They have since made denials transparent by requiring the denying agency to communicate to the person denied exactly which agency made the determination and what was the exact reason.

You can thank the NRA and other gun owners groups for that.

Hopefully, when a spotlight is shined on the roaches who are doing this they will scatter and apply the rules fairly and equally. These people pay a lot of money and spend a lot of time in getting prepared to apply and if they are eligible under the law they should receive their permits.

For someone who cares so little you spend a lot of time responding to our threads and posts. If you're crushing, I'll say it again, I'm straight and taken. But thanks anyway! :goofy:

Thank them for getting into a situation that shouldn't have happened in the first place? No thanks. When it's equal across the board, that's something to celebrate.

And it was the NRA who endorsed the first gun control laws that led to places becoming like Chicago.

Last i checked the chicago voters havent elected an NRA endorsed candidate in decades. I wonder why the candidates they have elected havent gone to bat for them and used their political power to protect the constitutional rights of their constituants to defend themselves.
