Query -

are you getting in to the shooting range at the nearest base there? Yes? No ? If no, why no ?

We have one downtown. But only the wife goes shooting, something about high heels..

Practice makes perfect !

micro-comment (from me)

Chicago, inside city limits, still has no office handling intake of CC permits.

It's coming, but, not yet !

Nope, Google black people denied cc in ill.

It's about gun permits in Spokane, not Illinois. Please try to focus.

Expat it right, I have been to Spokane and there are not many black people, lets stay on topic

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

Please show me a post that someone here said it's ok

I don't think that there is one. However the OP is essentially much ado about people unable to get same day service on their concealed carry permits. Boo. Hoo.

I am firmly of the belief that mentioning the much more outrageous story of of otherwise highly qualified applicants for concealed carry, coincidentally sharing (for permit purposes) Black skin tones being summarily denied, completely in line with this rather silly OP. In fact it properly puts the OP and its "victims" into sharp perspective.

I appreciate your taking the time to make this request but alas I am unable to perform the impossible.

If you want to get on that more power to you! I'm glad you pointed out that option and appreciate your time taken to offer anyone else who is interested that option as well.

Nope, Google black people denied cc in ill.

"A lot of people have been denied wrongly, perhaps because of mistaken identity, inefficient court records or records that weren't filled out properly," said Pearson. "We've got cases of people who never had an (domestic abuse) order of protection issued against them, but someone who had a similar name did. The purpose is to get all this straightened out and run things more accurately."

Hal Baskin Sr., a former gang member who is now an Englewood community activist, would not speculate as to why his application was denied.

A Tribune review of Baskin's criminal record in Cook County found that he was convicted in 2003 of misdemeanor resisting/obstructing a police officer in an incident that occurred in 1998. He was sentenced to six months of court supervision.

Records also show that Baskin has been arrested four times in the past 10 years. The arrests largely resulted in misdemeanor charges involving altercations with police. In each case, the charges were either dropped or he was found not guilty. Baskin said the arrests were related to his work as an activist.

Part of being an activist involves the occasional run-in with police, he said, but he believes his record shouldn't disqualify him from carrying a gun.

Then he should be denied, but what about the others?

One such example, Michael Thomas was puzzled that as a former Air Force reservist who routinely carried a gun during military service and has never had a run-in with the law, was turned down, even though the law does not afford police the discretion to deny permits to those who meet the prerequisites and who are not legally prohibited. But Thomas is just one of more than 800 people who have been denied licenses by the board. This board meets behind closed doors and keeps its records and reasoning secret. Even when applicants meet all the criteria, the board says they have no obligation to explain themselves… even when it seems clear that the only disqualifying factor is the color of the applicant’s

Thomas’s clean record seems to be corroborated by a search of Cook County court records, where he lives. The database turned up no charges. An Air Force spokesman further reported to the local Tribune that Thomas received and honorable discharged in 2012. They added that his military record contains no unfavorable information.

Lawyers involved in the cases say “There are law-abiding citizens in the state of Illinois who are fully eligible to carry, and they are denied the right and not given any notice as to why,” according to David Thompson, a Washington, D.C., attorney hired to file companion lawsuits in Illinois state court and U.S. District Court. “We want a process established that gives people notice of what evidence the state used to make the determination … and an opportunity to rebut by putting in their own evidence.”

I'm hopeful that SCOTUS will mandate shall-issue concealed carry nationwide, though despite Heller and McDonald rulings I'm not optimistic on that. The next presidency is going to have a profound and long-term impact on gun rights, via replacement of 1-2 supreme justices who will age out. The previous rulings have been 5:4. Lose a single conservative and suddenly the 2nd means even less than it does today.

Good luck!

That would put the Supreme Court in line with mainstream America. The majority of Americans want stricter gun control.
