Just double checking again when signing the documents I130 and G325A with black ink only right? I am sorry for all these questions I am just afraid I will mis or forget something will be sending the packet tomorrow.

I have seen people use blue ink as well. But since you haven't signed it yet, just find a black ink pen and use that so that you have no worries whatsoever :)

Quick question:

I sent my I130 to our friend in the US so he can buy a money order and put it in the packet.

Do I still use the lock box address from filling outside of the US?

Not sure if I am posting here is right but I had a question.

I filled from Abroad and will be traveling to the states in June my DL has expired and we are planning to move to a different state then I lived before moving to Bosnia.

I know I can only get a DL in the state if I have a rental agreement or is there any other way to get that? I want to use this opportunity going to the states for work to get things done.

Not necessarily a rental agreement but an address. Is there someone who will let you use his address for your DL? And it has to be an actual street address, they won't send your license to a PO box.

What is required to show I can use their address?

Depends on where you live, at least, you usually have to have two forms of documents to prove your address. So anybody that lets you send your mail to such as an insurance card, car registration, a bill?

If you have somebody that lives in that state you could ask them if they will let you use their address as your permanent address until you get your own. And then make sure to update your DL when you do have a new address.

My friends will let me use their address I will have a bill sent to their address with my name. And what would be the other form that I could use since the utilitie bills are not on my name.

Will it be ok to get a address in a different state then the one we are intending to move after the visa is approved?

Im confused.

If you are trying to get a drivers license, you should aim for it to be in the State you will be residing when you arrive haha.

Sorry for confusion.

It would be just easier to get my DL in the state where I lived before because my friends live there. Will it look bad at the interview that I have a valid DL from a different state, by the them we get the interview date I will have hopefully a job lined up. lease for apartment and our daughter registred in a school.

What, just to obtain a driver's license? Unless things have changed, you don't need anything. Just tell the DMV what address you live at, and that's where they'll send the license. At least, that's all I had to do back in the states I lived in before. I never had to prove my address for the DMV. If you've moved and have your mail forwarded, the post office will return the license, because those are not forwarded since it would indicate you're not at the address on the license anymore. And they won't send to a P.O. box. But if you have a friend at that address who is willing to accept delivery of that license, then DMV will have no clue you don't really live there. That's what I did in the past, just put my father's house as my address for the DL, and it was mailed there. That was when he was alive, of course. These days I don't have a license from any US state, just my Thai license and an international driving permit.

Sorry for confusion.

I don't believe it will matter. You have a license from one state. You intend to live in another state. People move all the time. I doubt the visa people will care. In fact, it could help prove your continued ties to the US if you've been over here a long time. Just be sure to clarify that you have been using this as your permanent address up until now.

Just making sure that it is true, that there is no way to pay the fee abroad.

Did anyone pay their fee abroad and how?

I filed from Australia. We had to send our I-130 package to my inlaws in America and get them to enclose a cheque/check then send it ok for us. The cheque or money order must be from a US bank account ... Not just a money order in US currency like western union. The only reason we couldn't use my husbands us bank account is because he didn't bring any cheques/checks with him to Australia

Oops just saw this is an old post but can only edit not delete on the phone sorry haha

According to Virginia state I need to prove residency and legal presence at the address. Since I have not been in the states in the last 8 years I do not have any ties.

But I will have it maybe easier with friends helping me get a address in the state I lived before. As long the visa people do not care, which it makes sense it is important to have ties to the US, as time comes closer to the interview the move I will have more things set up in the new state anyway like enroll our daughter in school, a job!

Huh. Virginia is not one of the states I've ever had a driver's license in. Those would be Texas and Hawaii, and no proof of residency was required. But that was decades ago, and it's possible that like so many things, rules have been tightened up post-9/11 even in those states.
