Hello, My fiancé has his K1 Visa interview in Vancouver next month. We would like to apply for his Adjustment of Status ASAP after he enters the US with his K1 and we get married (i.e. within 24-48 hours). As such, I am preparing his documents currently and I am wondering if we can make an appointment with a Civil Surgeon in the US this month when he visits for a week to complete the I-693 Vaccination Record before he actually receives his K1 visa.

Also, it is imperative that he receives his Advance Parole ASAP for work reasons…any suggestions to make this a smooth process? What supporting evidence should be included with the I-131?

See the link below for example forms. What supporting evidence should be included with the I-131? None, see example form link below.

Welcome to the forum.

We concurrently filed for my wife and stepson's AOS/EAD/AP approximately 2 weeks after their POE. Here are some links for your reading pleasure:

You cannot get an I-693 from a civil surgeon. You must go to the designated panel physician and get medical exam for the K-1 visa abroad.

You may not need to see a civil surgeon > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551080-immunizations-ds-3025-or-i-693/

Also, you need a copy of your marriage certificate in order to file for AOS, so not not sure how you would be able to get the marriage license, get married, have the marriage registered with the court, get the marriage certificate back from the court and file for AOS within 2 days. Some states have you wait longer than 2 days to marry after getting the license.

The instructions list what is required for the I-131. They state you need an official ID, and the biometrics page of your passport works for this. Proof of current status is a copy of your K-1 visa and entry stamp from your passport. Also, 2 passport photos See Pages 7-9 > http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-131instr.pdf

Thank you for your replies. I appreciate your input.

My fiancé has already gotten his K1 medical abroad. I am referring to being sure the vaccination record on the DS 3025 is sufficient. I see that the Dr in Canada only stated his last MMR vaccination on the form. Does anyone know if this will be a problem? The box for "US Vaccination requirements COMPLETE" is checked at the bottom of the form. Does this supersede the rest of the vaccination information included on the DS 3025? If there is uncertainty then we may go to a civil surgeon to fill out the vaccination history on part 7 of I-693. Could we do this before my fiancé enters on a K1?

It is possible in a few states to apply for a marriage license, do the ceremony and get the certificate in the same day! We've done our research and are taking a drive to make it happen! I'm still hoping to have him enter the US and send off the AOS within 2 days!

Check the link I posted about the I-693. If it is not filled out the way it explains there, then you probably need to see the civil surgeon. You can always call some and ask about getting the I-693 before even having the K-1 visa, but not sure about that. I would think they need to enter on the K-1 first and marry, since the I-693 is filed when seeking immigrant status.

You can also file and send a copy of the DS-3025 as it is and worry about seeing a civil surgeon later, if you happen to get an RFE for it.

If the KI medical abroad met the vaccination standard, there is no reason to think the vaccination record on the DS 3025 will not be sufficient.

Does your fiancé have to continue working? If fiancé continues to work in Canada they will have to complete taxes in both countries...
