Actually, I think that comment was directed at me. I remember saying that these public instances where black people were beaten or killed on tape only happened to black people. NB responded with links that showed it police brutality happens to white people as well.

But that's my fault for not conveying my message properly. I wasn't saying that it ONLY happens to black people, I was saying these instances where black mothers are pulled over and terrorized over the wrong call, or cops shooting into a car full of kids, or shooting a car more than a hundred times over a backfire, or getting shot in your driveway while smoking a cig, or getting arrested for waiting for the bus, or getting arrested for buying a belt, or getting arrested for buying a purse, or getting pulled over for eye contact, (man I could go on) only seem to happen to people of color. I've even went as far as to ask who here has experienced police brutality since the majority of people here are white men.

NB said he was pulled over and threatened. Which I would imagine a frightening experience for anyone, but for black people, it's routine to the point where I expect it when I interact with the police, no matter how polite I am. And I shouldn't have to just because I'm black.

Here's what my black buddy did, circa 1984 firstly, and has kept doing it every since.

Each time there was a new Justice of The Peace that got elected, he introduced himself about 2 weeks after swearing in,

inviting him over to eat a meal at his house.

They talked for about 2 hours as well on that day (meal day) and he tells me - he made SURE that he got a big photo made of him and the JP at the porch at his house, showing the address number on the top of his house.

It was a cool thing, as

the # matched what was in his drivers license,

and

he only had to pull out this 8 x 10" color photo 3 times in a 30 year period when stopped in the county.

It's a big dealio.

Can you do something similar where you live?

and

Can you tell all of yer peeps (real, virtual, and otherwise)

to do the same thing ? I ask, because this technique seems to work !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

No, because I shouldn't have to prove mine(or anyone else's) innocence before I'm charged with a crime.

I know, right ?

Look, I lived through enforced affimative action and lots of my 'black cadre' folksen had a great run on this upward mobility stuff.

Since affimative action is dead now, my buddy's technique seems to still have a lot of merit.

Google 'em yourself, since you didn't bother to post your sources on Illinois racism

Bribing someone to treat you like a human with food. OK. Creative buddy.. Not sure how this would work with local PD. lol

Hi local PD, my name is Janelle, I want to invite you over for dinner so we can discuss how you can not profile me, my family, other minority people, kill us in the streets, etc. I say this because everyone isn't the same. Can you just treat me like others? You know, assume I am just as regular as any other person first...

Let me know if my dialogue is correct Darnell.

Thanks

Doesn't say a word about being turned away.

More young black americans are afraid of or aware of gun violence in their neighborhoods than who have experienced discrimination at work or harassment by police

In fact, you and those like you, who have convinced yourselves that you are victims and can talk about, speak about, or think about nothing else represent about 30% of 14%, or about 4% of total US population.

Hardly enough to convince the rest of us, black or white or from anywhere else, to drop what we are doing and scramble jets over.

You, and those (very few actually) like you, need to join the majority of black Americans who are dropping the victimization mentality, moving forward with the rest of America, and making a difference by doing, not by whining.

Your move. Please read the stats carefully if you don't believe that under Obama the entire black community has lost ground in every category.

It proves that racism still exists.

As long as there are races, there will be racism, but no race has the monopoly on it: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/lifestyle/general_lifestyle/july_2013/more_americans_view_blacks_as_racist_than_whites_hispanics

Among black Americans, 31% think most blacks are racist, while 24% consider most whites racist and 15% view most Hispanics that way.

Good luck!

doesn't really matter if black or hispanic or even poor white people are racist. they can't do anything with it but violence, they can't discriminate with any lasting real effect. the real detriment in racism is the combo of racist + money = power.

I wouldn't say that violence "doesn't matter".

violence matters, i'm saying if two hicks in a trailer park make racist remarks to a neighbor say, and beat him up - that certainly has a negative impact on that person. but a landlord that owns multiple properties in an area, but refuses to rent to black people - that's a different kind of impact. the effect of that discrimination reaches much further and alters the lives of many more people.

Yep, it says flat out denied. This thread had a one day wait, and look at the outrage.

Tell me something. How much ground did we gain under Bush or any other president for that matter?

Second, you don't know me. Just like I don't know you, so stop with the comments of victimization. I point out issues, I've never said woe is me. I know the board is rigged, and if pointing this out makes you uncomfortable, then maybe you should stop trying to one up my comments. You love to make about my wife and I, but get caught in your feelings when you get asked basic questions about your wife. You've gone as far as to accuse me of being here without any real purpose since you THOUGHT I wasn't with Janelle anymore only to get embarrassed when she showed up and called you out.

This is only going to result in another thread ban or permanent ignore. Either keep it civil or don't play the game.

On the question of "black poverty under bush" google returned:

first link: http://townhall.com/columnists/larryelder/2015/07/23/under-obama-blacks-are-worse-off--far-worse-n2028985/page/full concludes they are doing worse

Second link: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiwqP_IpazKAhXFbD4KHfvCB4gQFggjMAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nbcnews.com%2Fnews%2Fnbcblk%2Fdonald-trump-right-what-obamas-done-black-america-n403881&usg=AFQjCNHIpUo-GHp50l93-VPlq_2rEvZc3A&bvm=bv.112064104,d.cWw no real conclusion

thrd link: http://www.blackpressusa.com/is-black-america-better-off-under-obama/ concluding with blacks are doing the worst economicaly under obama since ronald reagan.

So economically blacks continue to lose ground. But to me the bigger picture is that they disproportionately exist in the lower class and the middle class is basically flat or falling slightly with the lower class losing ground fast, and that is going to continue with the next president as well. I think it is largely due to the economy changing in ways that primarily help the rich.

So short answer yes they are doing worse than they did under bush. Longer answer: the short answer is somewhat irrelevant.
