I am trying to get a CRBA for my daughter in the Philippines. I am a U.S. Citizen; my wife is a Philippines citizen. I have my interview date for the 29th. I sent in my Birth Certificate for proof of U.S. Citizenship. They said they need a U.S. Passport to show U.S. Citizenship. I don't have a passport, so how can I show U.S. Citizenship? Thank you.

I can't get a passport. So there has to be another way to establish citizenship I assume right?

If you are a US citizen, why can't you get a US Passport? Why wasn't your birth certificate accepted as proof of USC?

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...

I can't get a passport because I owe money for child support. Even if I pay it off, the passport isn't something they will give me right away. I am not sure that my birth certificate wasn't accepted. The appointment letter at the bottom just says I am missing my U.S. Passport for proof of citizenship.

In this case you will have to ask the embassy directly. If you were born in the US, your US birth certificate is proof of citizenship. If they need a passport for consulate processing, i.e. for identification purposes, they only can tell you how to get around it.

Perhaps a state/government issued photo ID (drivers license) along with your birth certificate would be acceptable.

A call to the consulate or an infopass appointment at your local USCIS office might get you a solid answer.

Thanks, I was planning on calling tomorrow. I sent in a certified copy of my birth certificate, and two copies of my drivers license (one notarized just because) hoping it would suffice.
