Received a call from a Peggy Chan of the HK US Consulate surveying past K1 visa applicants...

She asked only three questions:

1) When were you married?

2) Do you now have a greencard?

3) Have you visited your home country & family since arriving?

after that, she was done, no interest in the children, any work, or any other questions..

Which got me thinking.... What is this info for? Call me suspicious, but the consulate has already made it nearly impossible to ask questions by phone, removed the "in-person" afternoon questions window that used to exist near the entrance.

My suspicion is that they want to make it harder for citizens of countries other than HK SAR/China to apply for their K1 visas IN Hong Kong.

Maybe, maybe not???

I know it would have been a VASTLY more expensive, tedious,

and difficult proposition to have had to apply thru my wife's home country's US Embassy....

I have no idea if this was a legitamite survey but having worked in survey research call center I know that one of a few things could have been the cause of the short survey.

your answers were such that you fell into a group that they have already reached their quota for. Eg they had spoken to all those they needed to who had moved to the us, gotten their green card but not returned to their country.

your answers were such that you did not fit into the group they were interested in researching. E.g. They are only looking to talk to those who have experienced going home and then returning to the US on their green card.
