My fiance went for an interview today which took place in Ankara, Turkey. After the interview, he was given a document stating he will be sent to AP, code 221G (told him it would take few days until they send him an email with instructions to send him passport along with that document) . He was not told that he needed to send any additional paperwork. His status is sensitive, since he is in military. Muslim country. Specialized training in military for an officer as well. But has a clean record of course. I am worried he might get denied completely becouse he is in military. How long does this AP usually takes, please give me any responses, I am 9 months pregnant and was really hoping he would be here before I deliver :(((((( They gave him his passport back, but they said he would need to send it in along with the letter they provided.. Any answer greatly appreacited !!

I don't want to scare you but AP can take anywhere from 1 day to a few years -- there's no way we can guess as to how long it will take.

From personal experience, my uncle was in AP for about 1.5 years but, he finally did get his visa and immigrate to the US.

Just keep your hopes up that he won't be in AP for too long. Best of luck!

Security and background checks are backlogged and it can take a few months to a few years, mostly I would say 4-12 months, some a few weeks.
Each case is unique and different from the next and nobody will know how long it will take, not even the embassy.

Best wishes for you and your baby and hope you will be reunited very soon.

Hi,

Sorry, he will not be here for the delivery since you are 9 months pregnant.

Unfortunately, AP can can anywhere from 1 day to several years. There is no way to know. There is nothing you or anyone can do to change this. No Senator or US Representative can change this. You will just have to endure it.

Sorry.

It really depends on what the additional document is they need from him. They will send the email and it will detail what he needs to do. Do not get too stressed until you find out what they are looking for. 221g is administrative processing. Often times it is for a missing or incomplete document that was required.
