Swedish Police Under Investigation for Sexual Assault Cover Up

Swedish police have come under criticism for keeping quiet about alleged sexual assault incidents by young immigrant men over the past couple of years at a music festival in Stockholm.

The allegations came to light in a report over the weekend by newspaper Dagens Nyheter, citing internal police memos, and mirror similar incidents over the New Year’s holidays that have sparked investigations in Germany.

National Police Commissioner Dan Eliasson vowed to investigate whether there had been a cover up.

“If what’s alleged is true, it’s serious from several vantage points,” he said in an interview with newspaper Expressen. “We could perhaps have prevented that girls had been molested if we had talked clearly about this. Secondly, it’s obviously not our role to take various political aspects into account.”

Sweden accepted a record number of immigrants last year, including about 35,000 unaccompanied minors from countries such as Afghanistan.

Stockholm police now say it was a mistake not to tell the public about the incidents at the festival, according to news agency TT. In any case, as is policy, the police wouldn’t have revealed the ethnicity or background of any alleged perpetrators, spokesman Varg Gyllander told TT.

Police in Sweden considered keeping these festivals gender segregated. What the far left doesn't seem to understand is that an honest debate regarding the fact that the societies that a lot of these migrants come from are the epitome of dogmatic, religious, homophobic, misogynistic, authoritarian s**t holes, completely contrary to progressive values.

Though it seems that somehow Islamophobia ranks higher on the progressive hierarchy of oppressed minorities than homophobia and misogyny.

I would assume that a debate in the lines of "Hey, we have 35,000 single males here from societies where women wear burqas. What do we do?" would be far more productive than the traditional "You're a racist!" argument.

I find myself bewildered with the majority of progressives and their attitude on this..

Most people have a domatic belief system of some sort even if they are secularists. They start with a belief system and hang onto it so tightly that anything contradicting it is wrong. Some started out before they knew anything about Islam with an early belief that it is equivalent to other religions. As they have learned more they have simply discarded anything not fitting the profile they concocted early on. It is impossible to retrain people like this, just like arguing with a conspiracy theorist will have them become even more sure of themselves. Bill makes a great point and here is a guy who hates religions in general but isn't so blind to realize that not all of them are equal.

Politically I sit on the fence on many issues and am left on some, right on others. I see among some on the left the same behavior they see from some gun owners on the right. Facts don't matter to them.

The increasingly lonely position of "on the fence." If anything good comes out of the political polarization of the past decade, I hope it'll be a one way ticket back to the middle and a mutual understanding that political overreach isn't good for either side long term.

The far left and the far right tend to 'piss me off' equally depending on the topic currently in vogue.

I think we will swing further until we either end up in a civil war or in an extremely oppressive police state to keep the bubbles threatening to boil out under control (my money goes to the latter). This election is going to be even more divisive than the last, which was more divisive than the one before. It appears to me without confirming via data that the US is becoming more divisive overall and politics are more about I'm right you're wrong than ever before. It's the same mentality peons use when watching sports but unfortunately they vote as well. The fact that the GOP's lead right now is by Trump and the number two democrat is an avowed socialist tell me we're in for a world of hurt.

Democrats are just as guilty as republicans for reveling in the loss of the other side in an election, as if it were as meaningless as a sporting event. Guaranteed come November whoever wins will be calling the other side bad losers and rubbing it in their faces.

of course. in my case it's been a sense of relief. life gets rough when a republican is potus. in my experience anyway.
