Slight (1cm) tear in IV packet from embassy! Help!

Hi everyone!

So I received my IV packet from the embassy today which must not be opened until POE. While opening the courier's envelope to retrieve my passport and to read the accompanying letter about the USCIS fee, I accidentally made a slight 1cm tear on the side of the envelope which must not be opening (well away from the seal at the top). Now, I'm probably just overblowing everything by getting so worried - but will the POE person accept this? Have a look at the picture and let me know what you think. I've put a 1cm clear piece of cellotape over the tear to stop it from spreading further. Plus, I've sent an email to the London embassy about the same thing (although it takes 5 working days to reply).

Andrew

That doesn't look like it will be an issue in my opinion.

Personally I would not worry about it. Our PoE was JFK and the IO did not spend a second looking at the envelop-he just ripped it open when we handed it to him.

hey - is there an 'immigrant visa data summary sheet' on the outside ? yes? no ? if yes, I strongly suggest you photocopy it, as it contains all of the numbers/accounts and whatnots you'll need later.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I just remembered the CBP asked me to open mine, and the sheet Darnell refers to was inside the envelope.

Keep that sheet as Darnell says its ultra important

Hey, thanks for all the messages. Makes me feel that little bit less nervous for my POE through Dublin (which happens to be next Monday). Not sure DJ6372; the thing Darnell is referring to for me was stapled on the outside of the IV packet. That little tear has still left a knot at the pit of my stomach; after all this time and after so much money I don't want to give them any excuse to not let me immigrate.

You're cool TH

Don't worry its completely natural to s**t bricks through the process!!

I travelled backwards and forwards to the USA for years, yet the day it was my POE for my IR-1 I was a gibbering wreck, I knew everything I had was perfect, did it help? Nah lol

I was nervous at the medical, my interview and both were total non events lol
