K1 Visa extension?

Hi all


I have my interview on Weds but I'm now in 2 minds about going to the US in April or waiting until after I have the baby (in July) as I'm starting to think the stress of moving to another country and having the baby in America without my family might be too much to deal with. How long is the visa valid for once it's been granted? Will I be able to apply for an extension? Also - if I have the baby here then move how difficult will it be for me to apply to get baby a visa too?

9/21/2015 - Sent off i-129f!

9/25/2015 - Received NOA1

10/27/2015 - Received NOA2!!!!! :dancing:

11/11/2015- Package received by NVC

11/12/2015- Got our case number

12/09/2015 - Medical

01/13/2016 - Interview & APPROVED! :) :dance:

5/17/2016 - Flight booked!!! The big move is finally here!

5/21/2016 - We got marrieddddddddd :wub:

Filing for Adjustment of Status

5/27/2016 - Applied for SSN and changed to married name - (still not received)

6/8/2016- Filed AoS (I-765, I -131, I 485)

6/13/2016 - AoS Received

6/25/2016- NoA

9/20/2016 - EAD & Advanced parole card received!

10/2/2016 - Green card received!!!! :star:

 

Removal of Conditions

9/21/2018 - Filed package to Texas via USPS priority mail

9/24/2018- Package delivered confirmed

10/19/2018 - i-551 stamp at infopass appointment

10/26/2018 - 18 month extension receipt notice received

The visa, once approved, would be valid for six months from the date of the medical.

If the child's father is a US citizen who was eligible to transmit citizenship to his child then he would be ineligible to receive any kind of US visa and you would instead need to go through the CRBA process and eventually obtain a US passport for them.

6 months would only take me to June, which isn't long enough for me to have the baby here, is there any way for me to apply for an extension?

I will look into the CRBA process thanks

At your interview you may be able to request that they do not issue your visa right away. You would likely need to re-do the medical again down the line, then could request your visa be issued when you wish. It would again be valid for six months from the date of the medical, whenever you took the second medical.

Most likely. You merely contact the Embassy about that. Nothing to apply for.
Also - if I have the baby here then move how difficult will it be for me to apply to get baby a visa too?
Is the baby's father the USC? Then you'd most likely apply for the CRBA US citizenship and US passport for the baby. Or, redo your DA-160 and request a K-2 visa for the new child.

I can't comment on the visa extension but I can with regards to the CRBA. If your US citizen fiancé is eligible to transmit citizenship you can apply for your child's CRBA, passport and SSN all in one go at the London Embassy. It is very easy and quick from my experience with our sons US documents. All you need to know is on the the Embassy's website.

K-1: NOA1 to Visa Approval - 8 MONTHS, 19 DAYS

AOS: NOA1 to Green Card Approval - 3 MONTHS, 16 DAYS

ROC:  - NOA1: January 16, 2018; Case Received at Local Office: January 5, 2019;...

Citizenship:  - In Progress Estimated Completion Time: July 2020 (18 Months)
