Hey VJ!

I came to the U.S. back in July 2015 on a k-1 visa and was married in September. I filled my AOS package back in October 2015. The good news is I received my EAD card right after Christmas! I was excited about that but does anyone know on average when I should here back from USCIS regarding my AOS case? I heard it's a 50/50 chance those who enter on K-1 status get AOS interviews, is that true? Is there currently a backlog for AOS cases mailed to the Chicago Lock box? a friend of mine told me many cases from the end of last year are being sent to other service centers, specifically California. Can anyone shed some light on the matter. Thanks in advance! :D

As you say, adjustees from a K-1 have around a 50-50 chance of either just having their I-485 approved without an interview and receiving it in the mail ~6-12 months after applying, or having their I-485 sent to your local office which conducts an interview.
