Hi I know I wont get a definite answer as I know these things take time. But I am looking for people with experience with the fiance visa the process and length of time it took to get your fiance to your homeland.

I am from United States and my fiance is from Trinidad. We currently are waiting for him to get his passport should be here in the next couple weeks! Then we can start the application process as I need his numbers. I have read that it can take anywhere from 5 to over a year to be able to get him here. If you have gone through the process how long did it take you.

Also another question besides if you could share your experience with this whole thing. When it asks for mailing address and then address where he resides. Should that be the same? Reason why I ask is his mail go to his mom's address its just safer that way. But he rents an apartment. So when it asks for his address abroad should he put the mailing address to keep it the same or will they find that wrong and delay the process? I read that they will send the visa and passport to his residence but I dont want them to send it to his apartment!!!

Thanks so much in advance for anything you can give me! We are very anxiously awaiting the day we can be together again!

Mine took 9 months to finish the whole process, took long cuz of the RFE but if you do everything correctly you and ur fiancé will be ok :), the stress honestly makes it worse then what it actually :)

And as for the address use the same one as the mailing address that is what I did since I rented and I rather have it mailed to my aunts which lives near by so I don't have to worry about lost mail :)

You actually don't need his passport number to file the petition! I wasted 4 months thinking this as well until I read the directions again for the millionth time one night and realized that I could have filed right after I returned from my trip! You only have to fill his passport number in on the petition if he is currently in the US.

He will need his passport number after the petition is approved and he needs to schedule his appointment. As long as you've met- you are free to file the petition now!

As far as processing times go- you will find all different answers here. I filed my petition 11 months ago and he still has not had his interview yet, but we were in the Texas Service Center backlog for 8 months before they routed all petitions to the California Service Center.

Im so hoping mine doesnt take that long. RFE is where you have to bring in more proof correct? We have been talking everyday for almost 2 years. We recently met in December for a week. Lots of pictures, conversations, plane tickets, friends can vouch for us if that works. Video of him asking my kids if he could be a part of our family. So Im hoping that that is proof enough that its legit!

Where are you from? Im just worried if he puts his mailing down for his physical address and they find out that its gonna delay something. I did ask someone else who went through the process and she said to put his actual address for his residence but all mailings will go to the one listed. I just dont want them to think we lied!

Seriously??? Where does it say that can you show me? I will go back over it. But I know you dont need the A-number cuz he wont have one yet til after he files. But the passport???? Oh my 8 months in backlog how does that happen? :(

If you look on the form it says "Fill this part out if your fiance is currently in the US" and that is the only place that it asks for the passport number. My fiance still doesn't have his passport (which is why we haven't scheduled the interview yet) but our petition was approved just fine!

Texas Service Center got really backed up last year. Apparently it happens sporadically to all the service centers and we just happened to get caught in it. There's people that filed in March of 2015 that STILL haven't had their petitions approved yet- and that's just the first leg of the journey. Meanwhile, a lot people that filed after March 27th (when they started routing all I-129f petitions to California) have already entered the US. Very, very unfair but that's immigration for you!

Oh wow why did I think I needed the passport number then? I think someone told me or I read it somewhere cuz I remember where it did ask that question about if they are in the US currently and knew to go past it. Omg. Well he should be getting it soon but darn it that bites lol. I mean expenses probably wouldnt have allowed me during christmas anyways but now Im gonna for sure get this all filled out and see to it that its sent off here real quickly. I have to reprint to fill it out again cuz their addresses are so different when writing them out :( Thanks for the information!

Sorry to hear about the delay. That is soo upsetting Im sure. I dont know how Im gonna go this long with out him. Seriously contemplating visiting if its gonna take forever

I thought the same thing about the passport until I re-read that form again.

And yes, the separation is definitely hard. I've been back to visit since my first trip, we chat daily on whatsapp, video call a few times a week, and talk for an hour or more on the phone everyday so those things help with the distance. I am SO ready for him to be here though!

Also, like stated above- I wouldn't worry about the addresses. That's why they differentiate between physical address and mailing address because some people don't receive mail at their living address.

My fiance's addresses were really long for the G-325A so we just made attachment pages and made sure to sign them and label them correctly to correspond with the form.

Just read the guides here and follow them, make sure you include everything and sign everything that needs a signature.

Skype at least 2 to 3 times a week but his pc just broke :( Lots of interaction just its much harder now since being face to face. Its only been a month since we met in person and feels like ages!! My kids and are are very much ready for him to be here.

Honestly, it just depends on your timing and doing your part and hoping that they could transfer your case to the California service center once you submit it to the Dallas Lock-box to. It seems that the Texas service center gets backed up a lot. I will advice you to check the processing times for Texas center and hope that they don't have a date on it. If it has a time frame like in months then you should be in goods which indicates that they have caught up with their papers. Just keep your fingers crossed and hope that they transfer you case once they received at the Texas center to the California center. Also try to research this site as it will give a lot of help and hints.

Wish you all the success to you and your fiance.

All petitions since March 27th, 2015 have been routed to the California Service Center. The Texas Service Center is not receiving any new petitions since last March- the ones they have currently are still the backlogged ones that they are working on. As I stated before, there are many March 2015 filers that have yet to be approved from the TSC.

Ours was exactly 5 months from sending the petition (Sent I-129F packet April 22nd) to the interview (Sept 22nd). We had to send in more documents after the interview which we didn't get until later, which added an extra month and a couple of weeks until my fiances visa was approved.

Amazing only 5 months! ?

I read that where your file goes kinda based on where you're at on the states? I'm in Washington so hopefully it's going to California. Well since Texas is backed up that's the only other place right?

Don't worry about the address? So maybe I should put his mom's mailing in his address just to make sure nothing gets sent to his? I just don't want too delay it just coz of something so silly.

From my timeline you can see how long it took for us because we were trapped at Texas Service Center. Since earlier last year all newly filed applications are going to California Service Center, where you shouldn't expect such a long delay. You should probably expect somewhere from a few weeks to a few months, and then there will be the rest of the process for your fiancé to complete. If you send in your application now it will go to California. Yes, your two service centers for K1s used to be based on the state you lived, however the USCIS were directed to take steps to clear backlog - that is why no matter where you are from now, it will go to California.
