My fiance is a Dr. and has repeatedly been turned down for a tourist visa.. Last year she got a visa to go to Greece for a couple of months and then returned to Nepal.. I wonder if an EU entry and return would be helpful at this time for getting a tourist visa??

We are filing a K-1 as well but would be nice to visit more while waiting..:)

Yes, I understand that and think that our system is broken.. She had job with teaching hospital, $500,000 in property in the capital and they still without looking at any of that or any paperwork said.. Too young, too pretty you won't come back..."denied"... Ridiculous!

Yes because looks really have to do with it

I think you mean that looks have nothing to do with it..;) Totally subjective.. My cousin likes fat women I like thin other guys like black, white, yellow, brown, red etc...

The whole visa process is a ridiculous one for me.. The K1 is irritating the heck out of me now as I only plan on staying in the US for 5 years before I bug out at least 50% of the time if not more.. I am trying to avoid going from patience to patient..;)

I would just get started with the K-1 then. Looking at recent timelines, it could be about 5 months till approval. Possibly even less. What's to be gained from a B-2? How many times would she visit during that time? Once? You could perhaps visit her instead if the separation is unbearable.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

What do all these 'ties' have to do with anything when the K-1 application shows she's planning on giving them all up?

That's why she was denied, nothing to do with looks.

August 2000: We start e-mailing. I'm in Bosnia, she's in Florida

October 29th 2000: She sends me e-mail asking if I would marry her

October 29th 2000(5 seconds later): I say yes

November 2000: She sends me tickets to Orlando for when I get back

December 6th 2000: Return from Bos

December 11th 2000: Fly to Orlando, she meets me at airport

December 22nd 2000: I fly back to UK

January 3rd 2001: She flies to UK (Good times)

Mid February 2001: Pregnancy test Positive

Mid February 2001: She flies back to US

March 2001: Miscarriage, I fly to US on first flight I can get

May 2001: I leave US before my 90 days are up

June 2001: I fly back to US, stopped at airport for questioning as I had only just left

September 2001: Pregnancy test Positive again

September 2001: She falls sick, I make decision to stay to look after her as I am afraid I may have problems getting back in.

April 16th 2002: Our son is born, we start getting stuff together for his passport

March 6th 2003: We leave US for UK as family

Early April 2003: Family troubles make her return to US, I ask Embassy in London about possibilities of returning to US

April 16th 2003: London Embassy informs me that I will be banned from the Visa Waiver Program for 10 years, my little boys first birthday

June 13th 2006: I-129f sent

August 11th 2006: NOA1 Recieved

After our relationship breaks down she admits to me that she had never bothered to start the application process

The poster you responded to was being sarcastic. =D

Do you have any intentions at all to marry your fiance in America and live in America with your fiance at any point? If you do, remember, your then wife would need to stay in the US most of the year or risk losing their green card if they feel she's living somewhere else.

Also, what proof has she brought? You said she HAD a job, which is past tense, and she has property but it doesn't mean she lives in that property or that she can't rent out or sell that property.

She'd need proof of a current job, possibly as far as having a letter from her employer stating that she has off from X date to Y date and WILL return to work on Z date. Have proof of car insurance, registration, usually proof of lease agreement is a GREAT way to show ties, but she owns places which means she's not in a lease agreement. Any kind of thing that can prove she plans on coming back, affidavits from friends and family attesting that say she'll be back for so and so's wedding or birthday.

From what you have said, she really doesn't have any ties that KEEP her in her country. She has ties to the country in general, but nothing that actually keeps her in her country as I'm sure people own property in other countries and manage it from a seperate country.

As for getting a visa in Greece helping for US visa. I doubt it, different CO's believe different things, the procedure to "screen" those wanting visa's into Greece is probably more lenient than to come into the US.

Greece I thought would be weak as opposed to say Sweden, lots of people pass through Greece, not many seem to want to stay.

Anyway she can apply and find out, avoid the speculation. Does not cost much.

That's why she was denied, nothing to do with looks.

Actually it does...Prior to our getting engaged the three attempts she made they did not look at her ties to the country, her assets and real estate holdings, that her family lives there or not.. Inter-mountain Health Care a partner hospital asked for her to come for a quick work visit and still she was denied not based on anything else, not based on lack of connections or ties to Nepal but each time looks and that she was a single woman was mentioned..

She was a runner up for miss Nepal while going through med school 5-6 years ago so not totally unfortunate looking but the CO each time after a 30 minute interview where he never looked at the paperwork once said " You are too young, too pretty, you will get married in America and never come back..Total sexist #######! Well before we ever dated seriously or got engaged.

We don't really even want to live in the US for very long after we get married, I lived in Spain, Germany, Prague and prefer it 100X over anything offered in the US other than my family. She founded a charity that she works with and was just appointed Country Director for Nepal for Days for Girls and I think we will end up living in Nepal but I would like 5 years to wind down my business and get things settled so we could live more comfortably than what would be available now..

This system is broke.. In my real estate business I deal with family and friends who are foreigners and if you have about 800K in the US a visa is very very fast and very easy to get as an investor.. Citizenship can be bought with that and somehow this strikes me as not very fair or ethical.

Not to mention that while I agree on controlling immigration but without the legal and illegal immigrants this country would collapse in a year or two, five at the most..Why are we making this so hard?

"Adam Smith wrote in The Wealth of Nations, “The most decisive mark of the prosperity of any country is the increase of the number of its inhabitants.”

And if this statement is true, then America is headed for more economic problems. You see, the population increase in America has come to a screeching halt.

According to figures recently released by the U.S. Census Bureau, population growth is crashing. During the last year, it was a depressed 0.71%, or barely 2.3 million people. This is the slowest growth since the Great Depression."

There is a reason that you can buy a house for nothing in the Midwest and Northeast.. How long could we stand to continue losing the equivalent of the entire population of say Oakland, Buffalo, or Boise each year? The remaining population is moving to the West Coast..

By all means protect our values.. If we think of America as a Christian nation then let in more of those than other groups but by all means let them come in if they are not criminals, on welfare, destructive to the fabric and culture of America or otherwise undesirable..

My employee in India experienced similar issues trying to get a tourist visa where they never looked at the paperwork and denied him...it"feels" to me like the system is broke....

Why wait? Move abroad now! Be happy! :D

Tempting...:) I guess I am just in love and frustrated with the process from a personal point of view and then as an employer we have the same problems with our people from outside the US.

Thanks for listening!
