Hey Guys, I am really trying to avoid the dumb questions. hahaha. My wife and I filed back in the beginning of August 2015. The only notification we have received is that our case was sent to Nebraska. My wife belongs to several groups on various websites connected to this visa. Several of the members there have been approved in a short period of time. They are all from other centers than Nebraska. I have tried for hours to get through to the customer line for immigrant visas, with no luck. I actually called the nonimmigrant line and had a nice guy explain to me how impossible it really is to get through to the immigrant line. I asked if I could call the NVC, and he said they wouldn't be able to tell me anything since I hadn't been processed in Nebraska yet. We are trying to just see if we can get some kind of a report on where we are. We have looked at all of the processing times tables, and all of that. We realize that the Nebraska center is way behind, but we would like to know something.

So my questions are: are there any secrets to getting through to the Immigrant line? Are there any additional numbers to call? Are there any email addresses or something of that nature? Lastly, is it possible to stop by the Nebraska Center and talk to someone there?

Normally I would just be as patient as possible and wait. However, since we are hearing that a lot of people are being approved quickly and we haven't received any news, we are just looking for some clarity. Thanks so much!

in the receipt notice,

there should be a number for the NCSC hotline, a USCIS office.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Honestly calling the numbers are basically useless, and this is for any and all visas and processing centers. The people on the other end can't do more than look at a computer screen and tell you your status, nothing that you can't do yourself, and they're even fairly poor at doing that. They won't be able to tell you where you are in the line, or when someone will look at your case.

A little trick I learned when going through my own process is that try your best not to worry about when the processing will be complete. Set a specific day and time, once and once only a week, to check your status. You'll drive yourself nuts stressing over it otherwise, and there is literally nothing that you can do right now unless your applications is outside what they consider their normal processing timeframe.

Thanks Darnell. Yes, I have the number, but it has literally been impossible to get through.

Thank you Avery!! That is exactly what I was thinking about them myself, though I never have actually gotten through to the Immigrant line.

I will take your advice. I just don't know how I will be able to check that one time per week when I can't even get through to them.

sorry, that's the office that knows about the I-130 status, but you can see stuff online as well.

Usually casefiles move faster or slower depending on the caseload at a particular service center...
