Go to the Cairo Embassy Main page and read the interview:

Q: I will not be able to discuss this point in detail with you as the program's time is running. But about the U.S visa; it is easier to get a visa to enter heaven! Honestly speaking, it has become very hard for an Arab, Muslim citizen to get a visa to the U.S.

A: It is not like most people think. Actually it has become a kind of myth. Around 70% or more of those who apply for a visa actually get the visa to enter the U.S.

It's bad enough that we are going on 2 months since the DOS approved the administrative processing - not this takes away my hope. Then they need to just send out that papers that say that we are denied.

I realize how you must feel, but please hang in there and don't give up hope. Egypt is notoriously slow and some would say even incompetent. It's very possible your file is just sitting on someone's desk waiting for them to gather the energy to finish the paperwork and issue the visa.

Insha'allah some others with specific experience with Cairo and the long delays there will be along shortly to give you some specific info and advice, and some much-needed inspiration.

Praying for you to get your case finished and visa in hand very soon.

All the embassies have their quirks. Jordan takes FOREVER to give you an interview. Casa randomly hands out denials and won't respond to inquiries. And Egypt... well Egypt just seems to be the most disorganized, slow, and incompetent place, which hands out months of AP at a time for no apparent reason. This is just from my observations on this forum. Don't lose hope, you just need to hang tight and things will be OK.

I wonder if the consulate knows that they are incompetent in comparison to other embassies in MENA. I wonder if they receive complaints and inquires as to what exactly they are doing to cause over a two month delay in administrating the visa after clearances have been made.

Go to the Cairo Embassy Main page and read the interview:

honestly, i want to create a big petition or something with the title of "stop the unnecessary torture" dedicated to the cairo embassy....maybe they don't know that we know that they are causing unncecessary delays.

And don't forget Cairo is handling petitions for non-Egyptians too (Libya, Sudan etc). It only adds to their work load and inefficency. Hang in there! It will eventually end!
