Next week is the scheduled interview. Of course, we are freaking out and nervous. We have had the ASC and Interview scheduled for two months and also the plane tickets--for my fiance and her daughter. We are still having last minute freakout questions...and sometimes the instructions seem contradictory...

1) The attorney told us that we should just show up for the medical exam at the clinic in the morning. Is there a way to make an appointment? Are there 3 clinics as in this doc? http://photos.state.gov/libraries/ciudadjuarez/231771/PDFs/mexwide-202_feb2015_eng.pdf Which clinic is closes to the consulate. My fiance is staying at the closest hotel to the consulate. Are all 3 (if 3) in walking distance?

2) The website and the attorney says for K-1, the vaccinations are not required until entering the US? Still correct.

3) Can I / should I accompany my fiance? I was under the impression that the US citizen was not allowed in, but my attorney read some other document where the US citizen was encouraged to be present. Anybody know the truth or a link to it? I visited my fiance for a week during Christmas. If I had known it was possible or expected for the US citizen to attend, I would have bought airline tickets two months ago. If I traveled, I would go to El Paso and try to cross over to Juarez. What is the cost of a cab from the airport to the consulate or to the bridge? Are there cabs that make the trip, or is it better to cross on foot and try to snag a cab after crossing?

Thanks

She will do great, don't worry!

I think CMI and Medicos de la Frontera are closest to the consulate (like a 3 min walk). You can check the clinic websites to see if you can make an appointment if you'd prefer. We made my husband an appt at Medicos de Visas for his medical.

You can accompany your fiance, but you don't have to. You can't go into the actual consulate with her during her interview, but there is a waiting room next to the consulate. Many people are approved without their fiance with them.

I just read a recent review of the Juarez consulate where they asked if the interviewee's fiancee was there with them. So while it may not be required, it may help. If you have the resources to go, I would say go!

Regarding taxi services, there are a variety of shuttles that do travel back and forth from Juarez I believe. You could also always take an Uber from the airport to the border as well and walk across, and catch another Uber or taxi on the Juarez side—I've had cell signal (Verizon and AT&T) work fine until about 15 min into the city without it being considered roaming.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I have the resources, but not the time. I have not asked for the time off and I was always told that the US citizens are not allowed in the interview. So, they ask them if the fiance is present? And, how would they prove it if they are not allowed it?

What has me pulling my hair out now is that the instructions for the interview provided by the consulate are different. We only have copies of the divorce decrees for our previous marriages. The English instructions do not have the word "original" in them. However, the Spanish translation of the instructions clearly says "original". Neither I nor my fiance have originals for the divorce decrees and my lawyer only reads English and he simply took the instructions by the consulate at face value and did not have us provide originals. Now it is basically too late. My fiance does not have time to get originals. I have time, but it is unlikely FedEx could get the paperwork through customs fast enough if I mailed my decree to the hotel in Juarez.
