Ive used the gum, it helps with cravings but as far as long term ive had no luck and its a bit costly...I have got it to snack on for my long flights to the UK and its been helpful for that use..And even if the hubby would use it.. Hes got to have the mindset to really want to quit or its just going to be a waste of more money... Kinda like the way we waste money on smokes.......Good Luck

Ok well my dad tried it, ive only tried the patch, and literally ended up in the hospital because of it. My dad said the gum did not work on him at all. He said it tastes like regular mint gum, but that it does nothing but keep your mouth busy for a little while until you get tired of the chewing and light up. :) He can try it, but its expensive and may or may not work.

I agree. All of that stuff is useless. The actualy bio-chemical addiction to the nicotine is done with after 72 hours or so of having that last drag. If you can't tough it out that long, you haven't really made a decision to quit and should just go on smoking.

The really hard part of quitting is getting over the habitual addiction. No nicotine gum or patch will ever help with that. Any gum will do to keep your mouth occupied when the (habitual) craving comes. And the regular gums, even the very fancy types, are so much cheaper than the poisoned ones...

My husband was a smoker 4 months ago and he had been smoking for 11 years... But because he wanted to stop and that I'm a non-smaker (never touched it) so i also encourage him to quit smoke...

He actually got this stop smoking shot... it's a program that helps people to stop smoking without those nicotine gum thing and it's very effective.... This medicine suppost to stop the nicotine to effect you... so eventhough you smoke then you wont feel any effect from nicotine.....my husband didnt have physical draw but he always feel like wanting to have something in his mouth so after he quite he gain 20 lbs :crying: but he's still sexy anyway

also they have a guaranteed if you dont quit then you can go get another shot. It's kinda new i think... there's a lot of people in line though so it can be a 1-2 months waiting list.

well.. If you are interested in this program to quit smoking... it's call Life Line Stop Smoking Clinic... here's the website to the clinic in NC http://www.quitatlast.com/

I'm telling ya, it's very successful.. alot of my husband family quit smoking this way.... it's quite expensive though (may be that's get him commited  )

ps.. he tried everything.. the gum, patch.... or just plain quit.. never worked... this shot thing (it really is a shot) works great so far.. no moody period also ^^

Hubby promised to quit as a wedding present to me. He lasted a week ;)

yes I knew he smoked when I met him. You can't choose who you love.

However, I was starting to cough after a few months, he was smoking in the doorway of our place and the smoke would blow back in, so I asked him to restart smoking outside. That lasted 2 weeks.

We just got 2 parakeets and they can't have drafts, so now he smokes outside with the door closed. Wish I'd gotten the birds 6 months ago.

I hope his smoking doesn't kill me, but if it kills me before it kills him, his regret would be too much, too little, too late.

Heading Home!

If your husband smokes just nag him until he stops. Works every time.

P.S. I've never smoked ;)
