N-400 Interview Descheduled by USCIS

I received my interview notice "Request for Applicant to Appear for Naturalization Initial Interview" today, January 7, 2016 for February 2, 2016.

Unfortunately, I also received a second notice with it: "Interview Descheduled by USCIS" My local field office is Fresno, CA.

This is to advise you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the previously scheduled interview for the above applicant. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

We will advise you of any further action taken on this case, including any rescheduled interview information, under separate notice.

I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar situation and how long after receiving the descheduled interview notice did you get a new interview date? :(

This happens reasonably often. There may have been a scheduling conflict (they may have overbooked) or they may have not received your file at the local field office. If it's the former, then you should be rescheduled soon. If it's the latter, then it will depend on the reason for the delay Your background check may not be complete yet or there may have just been a mixup in sending your file. But again, this seems to happen to at least one applicant every couple of months here on VJ Which means that it happens to many more people who don't post here.

Thank you so much for replying! That makes me feel a lot better ^_^ I've been trying to search the forums for any posts about it. I'm definitely going to call the helpline again in 2 weeks. In the meantime, I'm going to wait by the mailbox LOL

Do you happen to know if anyone's online status changed back to "in line for interview" or if their case was "touched" when they eventually got a new interview date?

My interview was initially scheduled for November 13th but it was descheduled on November 12. I have been waiting for a new interview date since then. I called USCIS last week and they said the file is now in transit to the field office. Hopefully this journey is over soon.

Some people see their status change back to inline for interview when their interview is descheduled. But for others the online status doesn't revert.

I just wanted to give an update!

I received a call from the IO who is handling my case and she said that the computer scheduled my interview before they could do it so they hand to cancel the computer-generated one. She rescheduled me for January 22 :) she also said that if everything goes well in my interview, I can take the oath on the same day - which is wonderful because that means my hubby can be there for sure!!! I was so afraid that he would miss my oath ceremony because he has to go on TDY soon :(

I received a letter dated Dec 28, 2016 for an interview on Feb 1st, thought on 31st of Jan. 17 got a call that my local office in San Jose has not received the file, and therefore was descheduled with the same letter as above. Wondering if anybody experienced the same in San Jose? Wondering if Pres. Trump executive order has created any delay/halt in processing pipeline, and this could mean long delays?
