Have you tried the reverse directory to see who it was?

I agree with the other who said this is someone who either knows you or your wife. They know one of you very well, maybe time to hire a private investigator if the police aren't taking it seriously.

I think the caller is just trying to scare you, but they are threatening you and your family so this needs to be taken seriously.

Thanks for you comment. I have told the police and gave them the number messaging me, they said they will try to trace it or know who the owner is.

In addition to what others have said - because this was a specific threat with a specific intent, they should face harassment charges if caught. You should also look into a restraining order to keep the person away from you and your home.

Even if someone was just trying to scare you, they have committed a crime. The police should be taking this seriously but as said before, help them out with as many details as possible.

Restraining Orders you should be able to download the forms from the local Court site, usually free to file.

Yeah that part is easy enough. I meant sometimes people don't get a restraining order or think it's not necessary.

Even if the person is charged, it's likely to be a misdemeanor unless the person has a history of doing this. Even worse if the person is not charged. It's not uncommon in these cases for the harassment to stop for a while and then come back in full force. I would take whatever steps possible to prevent this.
