Able to reschedule Biometrics appointment?

We waited until after the holidays for our honeymoon which we are taking next month. We are preparing to send out the I-485 packet next week. Based on current timelines it looks like there's a 3-5 week window for most people to get biometrics. There is a good chance we could be scheduled for biometrics during our honeymoon. Is there a way to reschedule the appointment if it does interfere with our honeymoon trip, or should we just wait to file the I-485 packet until the day before we leave so the appointment timing wouldn't be an issue?

The only thing that bothers me about waiting to file until right before we leave is that we would not have the I-485 confirmation letter from USCIS to take with us to the airport in case we got held up in Hawaii by TSA for any reason (cause you never know).

Your K1 is expired and you have not applied for adjustment of status? If so, you are out of status and there is the possibility of problems.

The trip is in the United States so it's not out of the country. The K1 means you have to get married within 90 days of entry, which we did. We are currently in limbo so it's not a problem. Just wondering about rescheduling the biometrics appt. right now.

You can only go to your bio appointment EARLIER, after you received the bio appointment. This comes after your notice of action. Got mine approx. 3 weeks. Most folks can show up with their appointment if they're early and successfully done their bio at the local field office.

Or you can request an infopass to reschedule once you received the bio appointment.

From what I understand, she can travel with her passport because Hawaii is a US soil and she can bring her state ID as well if she has it.

File now, and as Blooms said, if your biometrics appointment is the same time as your honeymoon, just go to USCIS earlier to get it done. I recommend checking the AoS progress threads on the AoS from Family Visas forum to get info on people's experiences in doing that.

At the airport she will show her ID to the TSA agent before going to the gate. If she shows a passport with an expired visa then she could be passed on to CBP. So her being in limbo is a possible problem.

Agree with Anh map.

Additionally for those folks similarly situated, i.e., "in-limbo," and living in or near the southwest border area of the US, there have been reports of mobile CBP inspections stations. In-limbo" people have been known to have been detained until a hearing before immigration law judge and/or filing of AOS. This is one possible problem, and a likely real dampener on holiday plans.

Good luck on your immigration journey.
