it's very strange to me that you are doing OPT without having completed the MBA. Usually, folk FINISH the degree first, applying for OPT about 2 or 3 months before graduation, getting it assigned and the DSO at the school actually helps out with finding a USA employer to work for .

Perhaps DeVry is a bit loosey-goosey about this ?

Not only Devry allows this. Nowadays, many schools have this option. The problem with Devry that student service isn't willing to help to find a job or even improve your resume. I decided i don't want to waste my time after graduation trying to find a job. I would like to do it now and be in a better position.

It may be CPT (curricular pratical training) instead of OPT. CPT is done as part of the course of studying.

Yes i thought about this but Devry doesn't have any internships CPT classes in near future.

Are there other Foreign students on the same programme?

yes but more veterans.

Eh - Most folk that utilize OPT for practical work experience AFTER graduation,

have found a job PRIOR to graduation, with a START DATE after graduation day.

If I were in your shoes, I'd ask for the DSO at your school. Might not be on your campus, but he/she is worth finding.

You only get year, but can do it once you have been in F1 status for a year.OP may not have much time left.

Russ&Caro is 100% wrong. Dime a dozen MBAs are from absolutely unknown business schools. Graduates from top 50 schools are highly valued at the market place. Same goes for kaw schools. The fact that you have an MBA means nothing, Russ. It can be from University of Phoenix and in this case it is useless. This is true.

The quote above is just an opinion, just as my statement was opinion. I have an MBA from a university that is currently ranked in the top 25. It doesn't get me through any special doors. All it does is allow some interviewer to check the box that I have an MBA. No matter where Devry's MBA is ranked, you still end up learning 90 to 95% of the same material that some Wharton student learns. Most hiring managers understand this. I've hired lots of folks in various management positions I've had. MBA's are nice to see on people's resumes. I won't lie, in the management positions I've had, I haven't interviewed grads from Harvard, Wharton or Univ of Chicago. They're usually hunting for much more prestigious and well paying positions. But we're not talking about going after prestigious jobs in this thread. The OP wants to qualify for any job that gets her an H1-b.

OP, go ahead and sell the hell out of your Devry MBA and your general business knowledge. The interviewer will check the box that you have an MBA and know the curricula. You'll be fine.

Can she contact you as you employ DeVry MBA's and would sponsor someone?

I'm not currently in a hiring manager position. However, I would pass her resume along to a vendor I work with who definitely sponsor's qualified candidates for some of the consulting work they do. And again, her DeVry MBA wouldn't give me any concern in passing her resume along.

Sounds like we have a VJ win.
