Hello! I have filed an I-130 for my parents. They have been married for 50 years. As they did not have a marriage certificate from 1965, they officially registered their marriage 5 years ago. The USCIS is requesting evidence indicating that my dad and I had a bona fide parent child relationship. We do not have any supporting documents so we are planning to submit an affidavit. Can someone suggest what needs to be stated in the affidavit? Also would it be a good idea to submit my childhood family pictures? Thanks!!

Did your father signed your Birth Certificate? That should be a good proof, also check other legal/ govt. documents that you indicated your father's name, school records that also reflects father's name can be submitted.

when i filed for my mother 5 yrs ago , I had the same dilemma ,though , I had my birth certificate available , to prove who are my parents, but NVC asked for my mother`s birth certificate, she was Pakistani national, born in India, she did not have either Indian or Pakistani birth certificate.so we went with birth affidavit.

given by her two relatives older than her(one was her sister) .Attesting to when , and where she was born, and they know her personally.

i hope that info helps.

BTW the affidavit given by my mom`s sister, she was here in Houston,TX. I took her to CHASE bank (we both are there customer), and she signed the affidavit in front of bank manager , and they notorized it, I think , it cost us $5 at that time.

the other affidavit was given by my mother`s uncle in Pakistan.

I submitted those 2 affidavit with NVC, they had no objection.

you can do the same , somebody has family ties, can attest to the fact that your are father`s child,

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.
