Some just received their approval letter without online status change. I hope mine can surprise me like it too.

The most excited time is when I grab my mails from mailbox and the most disappointed time is so too.

I do the same thing. I was out of town for over a week and was really hoping I would come home to the notice. Keeping my fingers crossed we all hear something soon!

Hello All,

 

Just wanted to give an update, we went to day to (attempt) to get the passport stamp extension but were told by the officer at the Baltimore field office that the receipt letter extends the GC validity one year from the expiration date of the green card and that they could not give the stamp until within 30 days of that date : ( They said to make another appointment and come back if not approved by then. They did check the status of our case and said that it had recently been assigned to an officer for review. So hopefully an approval is near and we won't end up needing to go back to get the stamp! Fingers crossed!

hi guys, I received the approval notice in the mail last Saturday (Jan 14.) In the notice, it showed the decision dated was Jan 11, surprisingly, on Jan 11 the online status still appeared "case was received" (I knew for sure, cause I check it twice a day during the past 6 months.) The status only change in "card being ordered" in Jan 13. I personally think the online status is just for reference only and some officers seem don't bother to update it. Therefore, some filers may receive the card without any change in online status.   

 

Totally agreed with jenni17, my extension notice was dated Jan19 2017 and went I made an infor pass at Dec19 2016, the officers couldn't give me a stamp and I have to make another appointment at Jan5 2017 in order to get a stamp. Finally, it looks like I got my decision just 6 days after the last infor pass appointment.

I'm getting a bit worried about my case (receipt date 01/29/16) - every time I try to enter my receipt number from my I-797 extension letter in to the USCIS case status thing on the website it just says my receipt number is invalid. I'm omitting all dashes as the website recommends and including the EAC part as well as all the following 10 numbers. Anyone have any idea why this is happening? Everyone else seems to get a different message than I do..

 

I also still haven't been to get a stamp in my passport as I had hoped I might receive my card any day now. I assume I should make an appointment soon and go to do that? It seems frustrating to have to drive all the way there given that I should receive my card any day now, but better safe than sorry right?

Don't worry, there's probably nothing wrong with your case. Every case has two receipt numbers - one is on the biometrics notification and one is on the 1 year extension receipt.

 

Use the receipt number from the biometrics notification.

Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by February 28, 2016, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Yup, that's the message I've come to know and love so well haha. You'll see it ten times a day until it changes. Welcome to the club!

 

And to your question on getting the I-551 stamp, most InfoPass agents will only stamp your passport within 30 days of the 1 year anniversary of your physical Green Card expiring. So try to book an InfoPass appointment that month.

Infopass made today and I got my 1-1551stamped. Driving to Atlanta USCIS office took us an hour drive. Appointment was at 9am.  Arrived 10min early. Went inside and got assigned number. Just waited like a minute to be called by an officer. While talking he stamped my passport and only took like 5min. He was so awesome and very accomodating. My I-751 receipt notice was dated 01/15/2016. 

 

Hope tomorrow I will read different story when i check my status. So frustrating always reading like "  On January 15, 2016, we received your Form CRI-89 ".  Getting frustrated too walking to our mailbox and check a miracle letter from USCIS and still nothing.  So I let hubby get the mails.

Had an infopass appt. today as well and got the stamp. Greencard expiration date is in mid March, extension letter expiration date is next week.

I think we are all feeling the exact same way. As another poster said, perhaps our online status wont change but we will all be surprised with our green cards in the mail! *fingers crossed*

Yesterday (18) I got an email from USCIS regarding my service request (I had made the request several days before I went to get the stamp) saying the status of my application is : "your card is currently in production". No approval notice (both online and mail). I called the next day to confirm the status and I talked to the IO level 2 and she said the card went to production on the 17 and I need to wait up to 30 days to receive it (she did not say if my case was approved and I forgot to ask that)....

I think your case must have been approved before they can produce you card!

Im an april filer and unfortunately my file is in Vermont center , seems to take forever , so im thinking of getting my passport stamped even if i still have extention letter til april
