Lost in the K-1 Process

Hi,

I don't know all the acronyms, but we've reached the stage where the NVC sent my petition to the Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City on November 10, according to the letter they sent me. We have not heard a word from anyone since then. The flowchart here optimistically says it should take 1 week. The letter says it could take several weeks. I've read 4 to 6 weeks, elsewhere. We're just about at the 8 week mark, and I don't know how to find out what the holdup is. I tried contacting the Consulate through their website, but haven't gotten any response.

Any suggestions? Is there anything we should be doing, to prompt some response?

Thanks!

the beneficiary should receive a packet of instructions aka packet 3 from the embassy.

alternatively, you can contact the embassy or NVC to see what's up. NVC would also know if the embassy received the case, if they've sent out the packet or whatever.

I'm not sure on the website you are trying to contact them but here is the email link,

http://hochiminh.usconsulate.gov/mobile//contact/ivinquiries.html, they will generally respond in 24 hours, they should have sent packet 3 already, if they have received it ask them to send it via email.

Yep, that's the one. I can't really ask them anything, unless they respond. But, I appreciate the input :-)

Thanks, Procs. Yeah, that's what we've been expecting, but it hasn't arrived. And I saw a post from someone on here that said they never got theirs, either. I tried contacting the consulate, but haven't gotten a response. I guess I could try asking the NVC. I suspect they'll just say "we sent it, so they must have gotten it".

Well, it seems that it's necessary to poke them to get a response. It took them 2 days to respond, but when they did it was to tell me that they were sending my fiancee her PKT-3 that day. Better still, they emailed me the instructions, so that I could peruse them at leisure.

Does anyone know if Vietnamese passports have book/inventory numbers in them? I don't even know what to look for. I assume it's different than her passport number.

Thanks, Zeta! Yes, that's the same one, although your link worked, and theirs didn't, until I corrected it.

We started working on her application last night. I hope to finish it tonight, if she's not exhausted from being up too late, last night.

It only has the Passport #.
