awww. happy birthday. what a gift lol.

as for how long it takes, its better u ask people processing in the same country as you, cos different countries with their different procedures. as for me, the day my case changed to ready, I emailed the US embassy asking what's next and I got my packet 3 via email that same day (this is how my own country works, u should find out how yours works).

They say that to cover their bases, when really it typically takes less time. From what I've seen posted the average is around 20 calendar days for them to receive the petition and 1-2 business days from there to get a case number assigned.

Hearing estimates like that can from the NVC be disheartening, I know. I freaked out when I heard it could take that long. Every case is different, but typically you will not be waiting nearly that long!

After trying to call the NVC during a busy time of the day and being directed to try again later, I sent an email just to see if I could get a response. That was on March 31st and I still have not gotten an email response from NVC.

I called during the early morning several times instead while waiting on a case number and typical hold time was 10-20 minutes. By the time my email might be answered I already don't need the response anymore.

Calling and waiting on hold is worth the time to get a response, in my experience.
