I got my case number the same day they received our application, it shouldn't take more than a couple of days.

Mine was there less than two days. Call every day it shouldn't be there long at all

I just called the NVC and they said our case was received there on April 4th. Representative said that it could take up to 42 days to be processed and receive a case number...this seems like an uncharacteristically long time?

Hi there, we have exactly time frame. My NOA2 is also Mar 18 so I better call tomorrow to see if they assign our case. Does any one who has NOA2 between Mar 14-18 have NVC case number yet???

Our NOA2 was March 14th and NVC just received our case today. It took 16 business days to get there. Operator said it can take up to 42 days to be processed, but based on timelines it only takes one or two days. So glad our case finally made it there. Now I'm hoping its processed and sent to US Embassy by the end of this week, then we will track in via DHL website. Good luck everyone!

I think the Mar 14-18th cases just arrived at NVC today so case numbers should begin being assigned by tomorrow.

I think the Mar 14-18th cases just arrived at NVC today so case numbers should begin being assigned by tomorrow.

Congrats!!! we are same NOA2 date. Hope our case get created soon as well.

NVC case status turned 'in transit' yesterday (Apr 05). I was trying to check the DHL tracking info using 'track by shipper's reference'. I used the reference format: EXP 05 APR 2016A and shipment destination as CHINA, but couldn't find anything, is it normal?

You need to use the date the nvc received the case. Put your search to include a few days before through today's date, and select your country. Should Be no room for error

Yes it can be normal not to see your file in transit. It may not have left or maybe it has already arrived. The DHL tracking is not 100% accurate. China can be problematic as I have tried for others with little success.
