Mine is supposed to be delivered by the end of the day on Monday.

We will have everything for packet 3 ready when we receive it then we can schedule the medical when we get packet 4.

Unfortunately she may need the sputum test which takes 8-9 weeks to get the results.

I'll be going to Cape Town, (South Africa) and then we will fly to Johannesburg for her interview.

For all those waiting, it gets more exciting so hang in there!

We need to complete the medical first, then interview is normally 4-6 weeks later.

Guess we get a lot of Visas being processed haha.

I found this page that shows how many k1 applications per counter,ours only showed one. Dunno if it's true and I can't find it again

We've known about the possibility of the sputum test for a long time so it's no suprise.

I will be there for a couple months so it will be nice to visit with eveyone before we leave for the U.S.

It's a long flight to/from Cape Town so it's not like we'll be going back every year

Consulate has received our paperwork as of two hours ago!!! Nvc case update says ready!!!! Omg omg omg!!!?????

We found that interviews are only on Fridays, and only four spots at 7:20 a.m. For our consulate.

Ours says ready also but according to DHL it won't be at the consulate in Johannesburg until the end of the day on Monday.

yay! case in transit. A quick question, when I checked the CEAC website for update, it showed IN TRANSIT and then underneath it says "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center" is that interview date being provided by NVC what it just automatically says whenever once's app is in transit? coz I know I'm meant to schedule my interview myself and not NVC??? thanks

So; I'm curious if the consensus is this is okay for the 'support' and poverty guidelines.

I personally will have assets totalling over £90k ($150k), hopefully more depending on house resale, car sale, and other possession sales.

My Fiancee will graduate soon after the interview, and already has a job offer/job waiting to start, which is circa $55k, and additionally also has liquid assets which can demonstrate $20k+.

My question, will a pending job, and her assets of $20k+ be acceptable for poverty guidelines (19k)?

I've heard that pending job offers aren't acceptable for the beneficiary, but what about the petitioner?

Will assets alone be sufficient?

Can my assets be used to self support?

Yes 6 months and your visa Will have that date (the 6 months from medical) as the valid date you have to enter before

Good questions... I don't know the exact answers but I can comment. If you're going to show assets I believe acceptance is at the discretion of the CO at the embassy. I know they do want to see an income primarily from the petitioner. If she doesn't technically have the job yet, I believe there's a high risk they're going to just ask for a joint sponsor. I would probably be prepared and have a joint sponsor and the related documents ready in case they don't accept your assets and her pending job offer.
