I wonder how many Fiance Visas don't get approved. What would be the cause of non-approvals? Playing around with the receipt numbers, cases three in front and two behind me were either approved as of March 8 or have RFE notifications as of March 14th. So there's 5 of us whose status is still in the "Case Received" boat. I'm wondering if that means they're rejecting our application or it's just sitting on someone's desk. I'm getting so worried because this is our only option in getting married.

I'm VERY HAPPY to report we got our approval!!! I got a text from USCIS telling me that our case has been updated and to check the website (sneaky!!). I was expecting to see Request for Evidence but saw My Case Was Approved!!!

Application Sent: 1/16

Received per USCIS: 1/19

NOA1 Date: 1/21

NOA2 Date: 3/18

Good luck to those still waiting! It's very hard and stressful but so worth it!! Timeline is updated. :)

Hello Everyone!

Im new to this forum. I hope every single one of you gets an approval soon :dancing:

I have a question and I would appreciate any response. I have recently received an RFE (March 9, 2016) and it says additional evidence is required to establish the qualifying relationship. Submit your response to this request for evidence.

Beneficiary's Intent to Marry you in the United State. Evidence of beneficiary's intent may be a statement from the beneficiary, wedding preparations or other evidence that clearly establishes his intent to marry.

I am very confused because when I sent the petition I included a statement of intent from myself and my fiance (both signed). I dont understand why we are being asked for another statement of intent. My lawyer said that it could be because they want to make sure that my fiance and I still intend on getting married. So my fiance has written another statement of Intent, stating that he swears and attests that he seeks to enter the U.S. solely for the purpose of getting married to me...(signed)

Will a statement of intent from him be enough, because I honestly dont have any wedding preparations yet

Is there anything else I should include?

Did you have it notarize? That's all I submitted intent for both of us to get married.

well my lawyer is doing everything. But I dont think he notarized it. How do I do that? Does it have to be notarized in my fiance's country (Iran) or can it be done here in the U.S.?

This is the same RFE that I received. If you sent in two letters of intention to marry from each of you then I don't know what to say, but this is what happened for me:

It was obvious why I received mine- I forgot to include a signed statement from my fiance stating his intention to marry me (I only included one for myself). I got him to send me one (I sent in a copy that was scanned and not notarized because that was before I found this forum and realized that it would have been a good idea). In addition, I also sent in with it other proof of our intention to marry- photos of the ring he has purchased and a copy of the receipt, photos of me trying on my wedding dress, a copy the receipt for the wedding venue we are renting (btw a bad idea to start renting to early out but whatever), photos of us together and with each others families (I probably sent 40 photos of this, way more than they wanted I'm sure), and also photos of mail and packages we had sent back and forth to each other. Basically, if there was something that proves we are a couple at all and intending to marry, I stuffed in an an envelope with copies of the RFE notices and sent them back to USCIS.

If you don't have much proof of wedding preparations at the moment, then I wouldn't totally panic- I would probably send in two statements (one from each of you, just to be safe) and any other proof of your relationship that seems appropriate.

After doing this (RFE was sent to me on February 23 and USCIS received my reply on March 4th) I got my NOA2 on March 16th- less than two weeks later. I hope that this is the case for you too. I know this sucks but I wish you the best of luck in resolving the matter!

Nooo. Its bad bad bad to show anything marriage related. Besides engagement ring or party. They might think you're married and tell you you need a cr1

I realize that now. I sent in my evidence before I found this website, so that didn't occur to me then. My thought process was just "send in as much evidence as humanly possible." It probably helped that pictures in wedding clothing were taken separately, in the stores in each country, and also accompanied by receipt copies.

But yeah still, if you have better alternatives, use them. Engagement rings, receipts for things. And if you include documents besides a letter of intent, be sure to include explanations of your documents. Don't leave things open to interpretation when you're dealing with the government ;)
