I wonder how many Fiance Visas don't get approved. What would be the cause of non-approvals? Playing around with the receipt numbers, cases three in front and two behind me were either approved as of March 8 or have RFE notifications as of March 14th. So there's 5 of us whose status is still in the "Case Received" boat. I'm wondering if that means they're rejecting our application or it's just sitting on someone's desk. I'm getting so worried because this is our only option in getting married.

Me too. I guess that's the reason why we both got a RFE.

But we can do this. GIRL POWER!!!

You have an idea what evidence do they want from you?

Hahaha!! :)

No concrete idea but I've been sitting here thinking about it a bit... and honestly it could be anything from passport pics sizing to maybe they'll ask for another copy of my U.S. birth certificate. I had the original, original one from birth. I figured what better certified copy than the original hahaha But now that I think about it, it's rather old so maybe I should go get another certified copy just in case.

Also, what I just thought of is maybe they're asking for a copy of her tourist visa and the tourist permits from the dates she's been here to the U.S. to visit. I didn't include that - completely slipped right by me since I was so much more focused on the list of requirements rather than looking at it from the outside perspective and sending EVERYTHING I could think of hahaha

Sad times, still no sign of NVC.

Just guessing from those that recently updated their timelines saying they got their case number, I figuring next Wednesday ;)

We both have the same NOA2 date so after next Wednesday I will start getting really anxious.

Start with the P3 For Vancouver http://photos.state....uver/k_pkt3.pdf But, keep in mind that a forum like this one is for initial bonding with others who are along the same timeline as you for initial processing. The initial application is the same no matter where in the world you are. But, having said that, once you get your approval (NOA2 text message or email), you should move over to your country's sub-forum to get a better understanding of the process for the Embassy that you will be interviewing with, and to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to at the US Embassy Canada.

Those in this thread, are applying from various Embassies around the world and there are different process for each. So what works in Russian, Philippines or UAE may not work for those processing through Canada. VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Canada and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/93-canada/

Get the Canadian K1 Embassy Letter (EL) at P3 For Vancouver http://photos.state....uver/k_pkt3.pdf as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the EL as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for you country so that you are up to speed.

http://canada.usembassy.gov/

Two more places to check for information would be the VJ Wiki found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages

And a recent interview review http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=18429

Good luck and God's speed.

Thank you!! I've already been checking out the Canadian forum so I'll continue to do so.

Best of luck for speedy responses to everyone else waiting!

For those who have received an RFE, how long do you have (according to the RFE) to send in your response? Couple of weeks, 30 days, something else?

My RFE was issued March 14th, and when I received it today, it says that I have until June 6, 2016 to respond. So that's...mmmm right under 3 months, although it won't take that long for me to respond lol

But on the Hong Kong Consulate Site, She needs her letter to request the clearance and physical. So I guess that's where all of this gets confusing. I know she needs to go pay for the DS160, and then we should be ready to go.

There is no fee for the DS-160. I think you meant to say pay the visa fee and complete the DS-160.

SOrry for those getting RFE's, but now you're THAT much closer to getting it completed!!!!! Prayers for you all!!!

Ours was approved March 4th, NOA2 on March 11, and still not at NVC as of yesterday at lunchtime! Going crazy!

Is it ok to do the DS 160 before the the NVC assigns a case? What about scheduling a medical exam at this point...

i know the visa fee has to be paid and i'd LOVE to do it all not but, can we? This is Guatemala and i haven't found a forum for that exactly...

any pointers? Tips? Suggestions?

Did you try searching from the search box at the top right of this page? Did you try Google? Did you go to your Embassy's website? Did you look in the sub-forum for Guatemala? There's my pointers.

Okay so I got to the CEAC site today and this is what I got:

U.S. Department of State

IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION

Ready

Immigrant Visa Case Number:HNKCase Creation Date:11-Mar-2016Status Updated Date:18-Mar-2016

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at: http://nvc.state.gov/interview

Now she hasn't received her packet yet, so I guess once she does, we are ready to schedule it. But this came from the CEAC site today.

Spend some time at the HK US Embassy website and read up on what the requirements are and what is next. Here is the link: http://hongkong.usconsulate.gov/niv.html

Spend sometime in the sub forums for China/HK found here. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/94-china/ There are many experts that can help you along. Most here in this forum are trying to get their arms around their own process and have very little knowledge for HK.
