Yes I would call because I did today and got my Case number and INV ID. So can someone tell me what we are supposed to next? Are we supposed to get a letter from NVC? I just don't want to jump the gun or screw up.

Hurrah.

Good to know those timescales.

I can only really speak for the UK process.

We get send something from our embassy saying it's been received and we need to complete medical, etc.

The NVC do also send a letter, but from what I've read it typically arrives much later than the letter from the embassy.

No idea if you will experience similar, or if your process at embassy is different, might be an idea to look at your regional sub forum?

Also; I just realised, that was exactly 14 working days for you to receive your case number.

Well they received on the 10th, because I called on the 11th. I call this morning, and it already had a case number assigned, so it didn't take long at all. I know the DS 260 has to be completed. The attorney I hired will take care of that, I am sure he needs the numbers to submit it. I will keep updating as things progress, just very excited that it was done so quickly.

You might be able to schedule your interview with the case number...at least that's how it is for Russia :)

Oh no, sorry to hear that.

My suggestion, go over your copy of the entire packet you sent... especially the application and the biographic forms. Look at everything in detail again and make sure you included everything that needed to be included. Check the measurements on the passport pics to make sure they were the correct size and placement. Maybe you'll find something you happened to overlook.

I will definitely do that! One thing I was thinking was it was either size of my pasport photo or my fiance's passport. But then I started thinking maybe it is the passport photo itself. I had it taken 2 days after I had my wisdom teeth pulled out, so my face was super swollen!!!

Then I started thinking if it was my supplememntal pages. I did not know I was supposed to date and sign them, so I didn't. I'm gonna try and relook at everything, and see what I can find...

Hmm... well, I don't think they'd know if your face was swollen because of something like that - they'd probably just assume you gained weight lol (a little humor to lighten up the RFE bad news)

So, passport pic size and not signing the supplemental pages sound like they might be possible reasons for the RFE. Your fiance's passport, not sure, is your fiance the U.S. Citizen? Was that used instead of a birth certificate to prove U.S. Citizenship? If so, all pages had to be copied and included I believe.

I'm the U.S. Citizen. I copied my birth certificate, front and back, and sent in the biographical page of my passport along with the page with my stamp from Panama on it. Maybe it's the birth certificate? And for my fiancé, we just copied the biographical page of his passport and the stamps from his entry to Panama, not all of the pages in his passport.

Hahaha!

Ok so that doesn't sound like RFE material. (Now that I think about it... I didn't include my fiancée's copy of I-94 to prove prior entries into the U.S. were all valid as a tourist - now THAT might be RFE material for myself... ughh... hahahaha!)

Anywho, so yeah, look over your application and bio forms. On the app make sure you ticked off any checkboxes that needed to be ticked off.

Spend sometime in the sub forums for China/HK found here. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/94-china/ There are many experts that can help you along. Most here in this forum are trying to get their arms around their own process and have very little knowledge for HK.
