Hi January Filers,

I need help. I am filling out form I-134 Affidavit for Support and I'm confused with number 7. The line that says, " I own real estate valued at:". On that line I put the value of my house. Then the next line states, "With mortgage(s) or other encumbrance(s) thereon amounting to:". Do I put the total amount I pay each month for my mortgage? Thanks in advance for helping.

Hi Everyone,

I am gathering the supporting documents for Form I-134 Affidavit for Support. The K-1 guide on this website listed a bank letter as one of the documents. It said the bank letter should be from your financial institution and should contain the date you open the account, the total deposits for the year and the balance in the account. Is there a sample letter for this? I have my monthly bank statements, but this is asking for a letter. I would like to see an example, so that I can request this from my bank. Currently the list of supporting documents that I have are: 2014 & 2015 income tax documents, 2014 & 2015 W-2 Forms, paycheck stubs, bank statements, and employer verification letter. Thanks in advance for your help!

You don't need all forms of evidence surely? It says so on the same K-1 guide you were reading. Your W-2 for 2014 & 2015 as well as an employment letter and pay stubs should be more than enough.

You can call your bank to get a letter. I have Bank of America and they new exactly what I was asking for (I think they just asked "Is it for sponsoring someone for immigration purposes?"). I had my letter in about 5 days stating the date the account was openned, current amount in my accounts, and average amount per month over the last year.

You do NEED bank statements. All you need to do is go ask your bank to print out statements for you for the past 6 months. or you can print them out on your own.

This is what I did with my bank

I printed my own statements for 6 months. (consecutive) Then I had the bank print out my checking and savings account - they wrote on it when I opened the account and that they were in good standing as I was in good standing with the bank. They signed it, dated it and stamped it.

That is all you need

You don't need a years worth.

They just want to see you have money in your account currently. That's all

Maybe it's different for different embassies because the UK only asks for the letter from work. I thought it was AOS that was more strict about what they accept.

You will put the current market value of your home - use Zillow for this if needed

then you would put on the next line how much you own on the property not how much you pay each month.

Example -

Your home is worth 500K

Your Mortgage is 350K

That is what they want to see -

If you have a second mortgage or lien on the property you will need to combined that with the total Mortgage

So if you have a FEL or HELOC for 50K

Your Mortgage would be 400K

hope that helps.
