Hi Amia. My wife processed through USEM about two 1/2 years ago and there was so much that overwhelmed us as I am sure you are facing the same feelings. So, I took it upon myself to help others and created a website with step by step instructions for processing through USEM Philippines. The link is in my signature below at the red twisting arrow and it's FREE to use. I list all the different forms you will need and where to find them. Also, I let you in on some tid bits to keep you out of RFE stage and to get you through the interview with no problems. My website will help you after you are here with suggestions about Social Security, Driver License, AOS, ROC and Naturalization.

Also, We live in Raleigh, NC, where will you be living when you get here to the States?

We did the forms together while he was visiting me here for winter break. Hopefully we didn't miss anything. I really wish I had known about VJ before we sent our packet.

I've made sure I have all my vaccinations ready for the medical now and I just applied for my police check. I'm going to see the doctors next weekend to get a medical report done as I have asthma and another condition I need written about for my medical. Anyone else in the UK should probably start getting their police check done in the next 2-3 weeks as it takes 2 weeks to get here. You'll need it before you can do your medical. You can get it done in 2 days but it saves £35 to have it done in 2 weeks.

To date I've applied for the Police Certificate, trying to work out if I'd need the subject access one for speeding tickets... Will wait and see what trace is comes back with.

Also, I've made appointments for my vaccination updates and to check my vaccination record, though my original doctors is a 3 hours drive away, so it's a tad problematic. The curse of not changing doctors years ago...

On the plus side, I've sorted out US employment, who are happy to wait 6+ months for me, so that's a plus. The benefits of family friends...

I'm booked in to see doc on Friday morning for vaccination list for myself and my son ! I assume I may need some boosters! I'm also at the solicitors to get a notarised letter from my sons father for the K2 on Friday afternoon so I'm thinking a bottle of vino Friday night will be in order! Oh and I also need to get the police report sorted!! Do you guys find yourself completely consumed by this process? My fiancé is really relaxed and I'm living and breathing this everyday, continually thinking of different things I need to organise or put in place!

Yes there is so much to do it does take a lot of my time up. I have court in march to do with my daughter. She is actually a US citizen and her dad lives in the US. He hasn't an issue with us moving so we are trying to get it legalized as I have a residential order. The court are quite happy to put it in place, just want to check she is happy to move.

I would assume something that big would be a requirement. My daughter is a US citizen so not applying for a visa for her obviously. Just making sure I don't have any issues at POE.

Your medical for your interview will determine what shots are needed. They will be drawing blood and will analyze it for needed boosters and missing vaccinations. No need to run all over trying to gather your vaccinations records. It's included in your medical fee.

I had received the text & email on 1/22/16 so I thought that was the NOA1 date originally but my hardcopy NOA1 date stated 1/21/16. So it was just a day different.

Where to do Medical

Hello, I am the USC and my fiancé (Finnish) and I are currently living in Malta. Unfortunately, the consulate here does not process K1 visas and the closest office to interview at is in Naples, Italy but it's a bit of a pain to get to. We have decided to have his interview in Finland but are not sure where to get his medical done. I've seen somewhere that the consulate will tell you where the certified medical teams are so I imagine the embassy in Finland will only list doctors in Finland.

Is it possible to get the medical done in Malta before going to Finland? Or will he need to do both in the same country?

We don't have the opportunity to be in Finland for very long so I'm also wondering how long the typical wait between medical and interview is. If it's more than a month, we will run into some big problems.

Lastly, he has lived in Finland, the US and Malta. Will he need to contact the police in all three countries to get his police records? I don't know how this works exactly. Does one simply call up the local police precinct and say "hey, I need my records sent to this embassy" ?

It's is best that you call your Embassy and also check their website for the details for processing through their Embassy.

The police record questions can be answered here: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html

Select the countries that he has lived in and scroll down to the Police tab and select it. All the necessary instructions are listed on what to do. Some countries will not issue PC's if you are not living in the country at the time of the request. I recommend printing off that page and bring it with you to the interview so you can demonstrate to the CO that you cannot get a PC from that country if there are any unanswered questions as to why you do not have a PC from that country. Most CO's are knowledgeable but some are not.

I have been told its best for me to get as many of the required shots done before I have the medical, here in the UK it is possible that we will get them done for free, so it will save me money. I'm lucky that I can get my vaccination record simply by attending my doctors office. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Visa journey forums are so reassuring and helpful.

If you can't get them done at your GP I got mine done at boots chemist as my doctor would not give me my Td.

Awhhh thanks for that, I did wonder if they might think I was taking the P asking for freebie vaccinations!! Let's see what happens. Good to know faithful old boots the chemist is an alternative option!
