Visa approved :) Does anyone know how POE of Detroit is? I see a flight for the 29th and I have a 2u43m overlay there, could that be enough time? Probably depends on the CBP officer?

That should be okay if Detroit is easy. We have a 4 hour layover in Minneapolis because we wanted to leave enough time in case a flight got delayed. Heard Minneapolis POE is very quick and painless.

As a side note, we're supposed to wait like ten days before going to the social security office right? I read that things can get delayed if you go too early.

I believe you have to wait approx. seven to fourteen days because you might not be in the SSA system yet. That's what I've heard!

Booked the tickets with a 2h43m layover in Detroit as I heard it's not as busy with international flights as it is in Atlanta - unfortunatelly these were my only two reasonable options without having a 20hr overlay.

It might be quicker now and you can even check if you're in the SAVE database online (that's the database the SSA office runs your info through).

We waited 2 weeks just to be on the safe side plus we were busy just enjoying ourselves hahaha

If I'm approved and they're processing it, you get put under AP right? My case is under AP since today but it says on the last part: Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days.

Just got the passport in the mail!! Inside of a big envelope it was my passport the instructions and another sealed envelope, but when I pulled out the sealed envelope I saw that one of its corner is cut off!! you can see the papers although you cannot read the content or take anything inside or out, I was very scared, for a moment I thought it was me who cut it off! I called the embassy and they told me that it is normal, apparently they cut off one of the corners for some reason.

Our AOS Journey:

09/02/2016- Sent AOS Paperwork to Chicago lockbox (I-485, I-765, I-131)

09/05/2016- Paperwork received by Chicago lockbox

09/08/2016- NOA1 Texts Received

09/10/2016- NOA1s received in the mail

09/24/2016- Received biometrics letter in the mail for October 3, 2016

09/30/2016- Biometrics completed (walk-in, Tukwila)

10/01/2016- Notice of Request for Initial Evidence via text (I-485)

10/06/2016- Received RFIE in the Mail for I-864, Sent back response

10/12/2016- RFIE Received by USCIS

10/25-26/2016- Approval and Card Being Produced for EAD/AP

11/04/2016- Case Status changed to 'Case is Ready to be Scheduled for an Interview'

11/07/2016- Case Status changed to ' Card was Mailed To Me'

11/10/2016- EAD/AP Card Received in Hand

03/16/2017- AOS Interview!!

My fiance's visa was approved last Thursday, he picked up his passport on Tuesday and he is coming here tomorrow (Thursday)!!!! Gahhhhh!!!! Can't believe the wait is over! :dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing:

Merely a day in AP, Issued this afternoon and got an e-mail my visa will be delivered tomorrow between 2 and 6pm. 9 days until POE. Gosh, I'm excited!
