Just wondering.. was anybody asked this question during the K1 interview?

Why do you want to do the wedding in the US & not your country... ???

What do you think is the best answer to give.

For me.. I would say ..Thats where my fiancee and family resides and we plan to raise our family there.. Does anyone think this answer is okay???

My interview is coming up soon .. and want to have a good answer to it.

Has anyone been asked such??

Any idea?

Honesty is what they appreciate a lot. Be honest, don't lie. I don't think personally they will ask it, as long as you get married it's ok.

With a K-1 you have to have the wedding in the US, that's the simple answer so I don't see why they'd ask that. It's not like you can choose with this particular visa.

K-1: 12-22-2015 - 09-07-2016

AP: 12-20-2016 - 04-07-2017

EAD: 01-18-2017 - 05-30-2017

AOS: 12-20-2016 - 07-26-2017

ROC: 04-22-2019 - 04-22-2020
Naturalization: 05-01-2020 - 03-16-2021

U.S. passport: 03-30-2021 - 05-08-2021

That's perfectly fine! For what other reason would you go through the entire fiancee petition process to the K1 visa interview if you intended to get married in your country? Good luck to you.

Anyone who had to confirm their interview date: In my letter is stated that I will be interviewed on July 15 at 08.30. After paying my visa, I get a notification that I can confirm my interview date but while I'm doing that - it doesn't let me choose the option of 08.30, only times after 09.00. Anyone knows what's up with that?

They didn't ask him anything about evidence of ongoing relationship. He just told them we had matching tattoos of the coordinates of where we met in Guatemala... Only because of the medical info where they took photos of them. I told him he can't be an international drug lord anymore ha ha habha

Haha yeah I heard they can be super strict about tattoos in certain countries during the medical examination. I will be present at the interview with my fiance so hopefully they won't need extra photos

Marriage license... Check! Come on Saturday!

Social security card...check

Getting things done! Now here's the catch guys...

K1 visa holders have automatic work authorization for the duration of the visa period (90 days). Then after that wait for the employment authorization card. So marriage as soon as u can and filing asap... Won't be much of a gap you can't work! This was just verified at the social security office we just left!

I really would not trust this info. Be careful that person might not know what they are talking about. Sorry to say this.

I wouldn't trust it either. For as far as I know, you can only work in the US when you are granted a work authorization. Working without your EAD card is forbidden and can lead to problems. This is what I know from a friend from our family that took the leap of faith last year to marry his long time gf in the states (without K1) and just adjusted status.

From what I've read, I think the confusion may be coming from the fact that things have changed in the last few years with regards to when people with K-1 visas can get their EAD. Apparently, K-1 visas used to get an EAD stamp at POE, which is what I'm guessing the person at the SS office is assuming is still the case. Apparently this still happens sometimes, but for the most part, is no longer a common practice. Meaning your fiancé can't work until he actually files and receives his EAD. It's confusing, but all the recent info on the US gov't site seems to support that you need the EAD to work.

Hi everyone, I just noticed that our visa is wrong name ( Middle and first name reverse order). We have no problem getting to the US but the local SSN office not let us apply for SSN. They said they only used whatever in the visa (which mean they only use middle name as firstname). I just double check on DS 160 and it also mess up (which mean I typed wrong). They asked us to come to USCIS local to correct to visa but I dont know if I can walk in or make appointment with them? and also what documents do I have to bring to them to prove that this is an error.
