So I called again today, and my case had a number assigned to it. However, the CEAC website says "Your search did not return any data." when I search for my case number.

Is this the website to check https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx? And should I be selecting "Immigrant Visa"? How long does it typically take for the case to show up on that website?

As a K1, when checking your case online at CEAC you have to select "immigrant visa" as it is treated like as such even though it is a "non-immigrant visa". Don't ask why, as no one has been able to articulate why!

Hi everyone. For the interview, i need to bring an updated letter of intent to marry, right?

Can it be a scanned letter?

Letter of intent is not one of the documents that is required at the interview. The only items needed are contained in the Embassy Letter for USEM. Follow this link for a copy: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/feb2015/K1-K2%20Applicant%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_February%202015_.pdf

They answered immediately but the woman sounded like I woke her up by calling, haha. I'll call again next week and check in. But I don't expect much until the week after that

It's running about 10-15 working days before you will get your case number. Best to wait, to give others the opportunity to connect a little faster.

Needs a wet signature I believe.

You should bring one, I believe you only need to bring one for certain if your petition is past its 'expiry' date on the bottom of the NOA2. But, it looks good regardless.

 The letter is not needed for the interview.

Our first letter for intent to marry was scanned. Not sure about the second. The steps say to do another one. Have you already received your packet from the fiance? With the copy of the i-129? They could send with that. I am doing that now.

Is this mandatory? Or suggested? Our packet didn't ask for anything like this... But our narratives both stated our story and that we intended to get married....

This is what I saw on this website for stuff to send down there. There's more info but just copied a little bit

http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

What to send to your fiance once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):

1. A copy of the entire I-129f package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one). Your fiance should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well). 2. Send copies of the documentary proof that you submitted with the I-129F for your fiance to have on hand for their interview at the embassy. Your fiance should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well). 3. Send an original letter affirming your desire to marry your fiance and your continued support of the K-1 Visa. Sign and date the form. This will be similar to the letter you provided with the I-129F, but dated much closer to the interview (it will have most likely been several months since you submitted your I-129F).

A letter of intent is not necessary for the interview. You need to get your Embassy's letter P3 and follow the instructions for what is required. The I-129F packet is not needed. Some send it so the beneficiary knows what was in it but that's up to you folks to determine if it is needed for your knowledge. The Embassy has the complete package you submitted to USCIS that's why it is not needed from you at the interview. It's all in their computers.

Go to your Embassy website an read up on the requirements. Next go to your country's sub-forum here on VJ and begin to read the posts their. Ask you questions about the interview there as there are those of us who have already gone through this process and we have a good idea how to direct you. Many here in this forum are like you and are trying to get their arms around their own process. Case in point each of you answered the question differently and no one had a definitive answer. Don't throw barbs my way as I am only trying to help you.

Why do when do will do. If I followed your logic, I would be scanning every piece of paper I sent and it's not necessary. They have your letter of intent. The embassy will have your package from USCIS. So there is no need.

Thanks! I've seen the same about Montreal, and that they'll also send via email, and was hoping it was the same for Vancouver.

Unfortunately they just confirmed today that they mail Packet 3. It's frustrating as we already have everything we need, but the Packet 3 forms floating around for Vancouver are all out of date so I'm hesitant to send back without having the "correct" version. Even on the consulate site, there's only the Montreal version posted.

As for the Canada board, the guides are definitely out of date, but they're at least a good starting point and I've been able to figure out most of the updated information with a little extra digging. The only thing I haven't tracked down is the updated Packet 3 for Vancouver...which is the one thing I need. Sigh...

Hopefully my fiancé gets it in the mail soon. Good luck!

Start with the P3 For Vancouver http://photos.state....uver/k_pkt3.pdf But, keep in mind that a forum like this one is for initial bonding with others who are along the same timeline as you for initial processing. The initial application is the same no matter where in the world you are. But, having said that, once you get your approval (NOA2 text message or email), you should move over to your country's sub-forum to get a better understanding of the process for the Embassy that you will be interviewing with, and to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to at the US Embassy Canada.

Those in this thread, are applying from various Embassies around the world and there are different process for each. So what works in Russian, Philippines or UAE may not work for those processing through Canada. VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Canada and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/93-canada/

Get the Canadian K1 Embassy Letter (EL) at P3 For Vancouver http://photos.state....uver/k_pkt3.pdf as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the EL as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for you country so that you are up to speed.

Two more places to check for information would be the VJ Wiki found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages

Is this response intended for me? Not to be snarky, but I've been posting on this forum for weeks. I've already done my due diligence on my country specific requirements, and as I stated, I'm simply waiting on the P3 from Vancouver as all the ones online are out of date (the links you posted aren't working, but I've searched every which way, including in the forum and guides on my country board, and every one that's posted online is out of date). I wasn't even asking a question in my post. I was simply sharing some additional information and commiserating with another poster that is also going through the process currently in Canada. I wasn't under the impression that I needed to move off this thread just because I'm now past the initial stage as there are many others here who are at the same stage as I am.

To bring or not to bring? ?

The process is completely dependent on your country, and which embassy or consulate in that country that you're going to, which is why you're getting so many different answers.

For example, the Montreal consulate in Canada asks for the letter of intent for the interview, while the Vancouver one supposedly does not (at least on old versions of Packet 3). Your best bet is to go by the actual guidelines from your consulate.

Good luck!

And so how am I to know that you have "searched every which way, including in the forum and guides on my country board"? I only make suggestions and answer peoples questions. I'm sorry you took offense. I'll just put your name down on my list of people that do not desire my help.

You do come off as aggressive and sometimes rude. You don't know everything and you don't knew what people have done in their research so don't act like you know it all and belittle the rest of us. We're all here to help each other not stress each other out more.
