I got my e-notice today for Nebraska. I most likely will be moving to a February filer thread. I can't really count January since I had it delivered so late. Good luck everyone!

Happy to say that we got our letter that our I-130 was received in Chicago on Jan. 25, 2016. It was sent on to Nebraska. We are still waiting for our case number to be assigned.

As far as assembly, OMG, I can't believe our papers weighed over 9 pounds!!! We met almost 5 years ago, with 6 visits. I put all of our paperwork in one of those brown expandable files that expands to 5". It barely fit in the large flat rate boxes (the rectangular ones that are about 12 X 16 X 5)...sorry, too lazy to go look up measurements. Anyway, I put all of the "application" papers in a green folder with those cross arms at the top of both sides (2 hole punch), mine on the right, his on left, with table of contents on top of my papers. That folder contained all our personal papers, marriage certificate, application, etc. Behind that folder, I had each folder labeled: 6 trips with pics and plane ticket stubs, etc. for each, a folder with wedding pics, a folder for letters of support, a folder for chats, emails, phone records, text evidence. I labeled each folder, but didn't paperclip because I could barely fit it all in the file and mailing box.

My advice would be for anyone who is going to file after a long relationship with multiple trips, put your evidence together at the end of each trip instead of waiting until the end because it takes a long time. I copied and labeled receipts for food, hotel info, etc. I put in everything but the kitchen sink. The bad news was that when my hubby tried to retrieve all of our chats from the past 5 years, the memory stick messed up. Luckily, I had already run off a bunch of chats at the beginning of our relationship and a couple of other chats. Now I am collecting the next group of papers for his interview, AND having to work on our complicated taxes at the same time.

Since my hubby is from Pakistan, I knew I had to go all out to show that we have a bonafide relationship. We also had some red flags that will probably slow us down.

Anyway, I feel at least now we are on our way. We tried to get married twice before when he was living in Serbia, but let's just say the government there was not helpful.

Good luck to all of us!!!

Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: Belgium
Timeline

The priority date is irrelevant for IR-1/CR-1 since you don't have to wait for a visa number to become available. It's the date that people who are applying for a visa that has limited numbers will be at the front of the line. We are at the font of the line immediately as we have no quotas or waiting period. So to fill the box they put the priority date as the received date.

Ok thanks !

the USC files the petition, not the person overseas. Where does your wife live? Is she in Saudi Arabia with you?

You have a long way to go. You are fortunate that your case has been sent to California so the I-130 is likely to be approved within 2 months (the other service centres are taking around 6 months). Then there is the next stage - the NVC - which is around 4 or 5 months (or more if there are queries regarding your case) and then the third stage - the medical and embassy stage. You should finally get your visa this time next year.

You have about a year to wait then. The next stage is the NVC stage and your wife needs to start re-establishing domicile for that so that's something to keep you busy while you wait for California to approve your petition.
