Hey everybody!

We sent our I130 to Phoenix on January 20th and we received an email on the 25th saying that our case was routed to the Nebraska Centre....

This centre seems to have a lot of backlog...I can't wait to join my husband in the USA as he will most likely have to deploy again early 2017. I don't wanna get there and be alone again. I already moved to the UK to be with him and I am now there alone :(

How long do you think it will take to receive the NOA1?

Good luck to everyone for this long journey!

Welcome to the group. I expect you'll see NOA1 in the mail this coming week. For your NOA2, it looks like Nebraska is working on August/September right now. If you travel on a Belgian passport, can you use the visa waiver program to visit your husband while you wait?

Good luck.

Thank you. I travel on a Belgian passport indeed but I read on different sites that I should avoid to go to the USA while the process is pending.

Hello!

Welcome !!!

I believe that travelling in the US to visit your husband should not be an issue, if you can prove to the CBO (if he/she questions you) that you dont have the intention to stay in the country (which will be considered as a fraud).

Some tips:

Good luck.

We are waiting the NOA1 hard copy ...

NOA-1 = Notice of Action Form I-797C (Receipt Notice)
NOA-2 = Notice of Action From I-797C (Approval Notice)

The time between these two notices is roughly 4-6 months depending on various criteria and how backed up the service centers are. Though, if DCF (Direct Consular Filing) the time is reduced drastically usually. DCF requires the US Citizen to be a legal resident of certain amount of time (usually 6 months at minimum) in the country they are filing with. (If I am mistaken on this part anyone, please correct me. I haven't researched it much as it had no bearing to me.)

This is the link to the VJ guide for CR1/IR1.

Not an image, but the process is a bit more detailed than just an image could accurately present.

Hi there!

Another January filer. We sent our I-130 package on Jan 25th and got email confirmation on Jan 28th. Our case has been routed to the Potomac Service Center. Judging by this forum, seems that they just started sending new cases to Potomac this January (although they've been handling trasfers of older cases so far). I'm curious to find out what the timelines for this new center will look like.

Good luck to everyone!

Welcome to our group! Hopefully we all have a smooth journey. I don't know anything about the Potomac Service Center. Is that a new center that opened this January?

Good luck!

We never made a January filing date due to one missing document we are still waiting for. Any day now... I wish we had realised earlier that we didn't have it but that's life.

Hoping for an early February filing date. Envelope is ready to go. As soon as the last document arrives it's all going to Phoenix.

Good luck everyone. I'm not far behind you all.

Yes, it is a new Service Center. They started transferring ongoing cases from other service centers last October, and now they are sending new cases there. There is a specific thread for this new center:

Hi Everyone!

We got the NOA-1 today ...

Received Date : January 20, 2016

Notice Date: January 22, 2016

Priority date: January 20, 2016

Two things ...

  1. my name is misspelled (one letter) >> we will have to contact the Service center later today ...
  2. Does anyone know what is the "Priority Date" for?

The priority date is irrelevant for IR-1/CR-1 since you don't have to wait for a visa number to become available. It's the date that people who are applying for a visa that has limited numbers will be at the front of the line. We are at the font of the line immediately as we have no quotas or waiting period. So to fill the box they put the priority date as the received date.

Exactly the same here. Apart that we got 01/25/16. But we are also at Nebraska which is the slowest. Going to visit my husband in April. Can't wait.
