Hi there,

I make an infopass appointment today.

The "girls" there went around and around and answered about AOS., even if me and my husband emphasized more than twice that we arent here for green card interview, but for the EAD/AP.

They searched more than once in computer, read something in silence, without letting us know and than said: "We dont see any problem in your case, this change on your online status might be an error, ( and my husband still emphasized that we dont want to miss any interview, we need to know why we havent receive the card), she said that its just an error, just a click on the wrong button, because as you know there is no interview for EAD/AP. And than she continuoused by explaining that for Fiance visas some cases are with interview, some not. I replayed that I know this, I am happy to hear that it is only a mistake on the online status, but we still have NOT receive the card.

She answered that as much as she could see on the system, my card is not processed jet, so ithe card is not lost on mail.

At the end she recomended us to write to the address at the end of the noticed document.

Over all, they were polite to explain every thing we asked for, but.... Must be really insisted in the point you need the answer for, because they go around and around the case. Maybe, I think, this is because they need a little bit time to go into the problem.

Now, i just sent 2 inquiry ;

one for "Case outside normal processing time"

One for "Did nor received card by mail"

The answer for both was "You will receive an aswer till June 16

Could you tell me if you sent any "relationship proof" when you filed and what kind of support documents you handed at the interview? Thanks!

When I filed I didnt send any relationship proof.

I brought few texts and photos of courthouse wedding/baptism of my niece/ new picture with my husband and I.

I brought my last 2 paystubs, joint tax refund just submitted last month, joint health insurance documents, that's it.

A quick advice in case you didn't know, because I didn't. When you go to have your biometrics done make sure your hair looks good because the photo they take there is going to be on the EAD card and green card. I am stuck with an ugly photo for 2 years

We have very similar timelines and had the same issues with our cases. My case status for EAD has now updated to "card being produced", but AP has not changed (still says case received). However, I received a hard-copy approval notice for the AP yesterday (but no hard copy letter for EAD). What a mess of a system! They don't seem very diligent about updating the online case statuses these days, so it's possible that your AP was approved on the same day as your EAD but that they never updated the case status or sent the letter. If you want to be sure, you could call USCIS and talk to a tier 2. The customer support people who you first talk to won't know anything because all they have access to is the online case status, but tier 2 should be able to confirm whether your AP was approved or not.

You were right. As you said the card that was delivered was combo card although AP status never updated on their USCIS web. Only EAD shows that the card was produced, sent, delivered. Finally it's here. Now I'm waiting for I-485 status update. I don't expect to hear another 5-6 months at least if I hear at all. At that point I'll get the congressman involved again.

Just received an update: they approved my Green Card!!?

My I-485 case status was just updated to "approved" now.

I'm travelling out of the country to home in a week... nervous because now the AP/EAD combo card is invalid....

Having Infopass on the day I start the trip.

I-485 timeline

NOA1: January 20

Case transferred to San Francisco from National Benefits Center: April 25

Approved : May 27

Waiting to have the card in hands in some days

At the end, after an infopass appointment and 2 e-requests to the ucsic, today we got an answering email and even more the status online for my EAD/AP Card was changed. They said that the card is being produced and is goint to be mailed.

I would like to give my thanks for visa jorney members who really gives good advices and help to my case . I really have found here all of my answers.

Sorry to hear that, though if it makes you feel better, this is very standard language so there likely isn't anything 'problematic' in your background check. Do you or your wife happen to have a common last name (in home country)? I know it's not very fair,but background checks just take longer whenever someone has a common name - many other names may 'pop up' when USCIS searches their databases so they need to exclude everyone else before affirming your clearance.

Oh well my friends. Haven't been here for a while. It has been almost 2 months since getting the EAD and AP. Of course we are anxious so why not have our Congressman send an inquiry on I-485 status. Here's what we get back:

"U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records confirm that xxxxxxx’s cases are pending background check clearance. USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in a timely manner while also ensuring public safety and national security. A small percentage of applications and petitions have unresolved background check issues that temporarily delay adjudication. Although USCIS makes every effort to resolve such cases promptly, USCIS is unable to speculate when the background check will be completed.

If a background check reveals an issue that may impact an applicant’s eligibility for the requested immigration benefit, further inquiry is needed. The inquiry may include an additional interview and/or contact with another agency for updates or more comprehensive information. Upon gathering and assessing all available information, USCIS will adjudicate the application as quickly as possible.

USCIS realizes that your constituent may be frustrated by the progress of their cases. However, the agency must balance individual inconvenience against broader issues of public safety and national security.

Please note xxxxxx was granted an emergency advance parole (xxxxxxxxx) on 03/xx/2016 valid for travel until 03/xx/2017. She will be able to travel on this document while her Form I-485 is pending."

So the keyword here is "Unresolved background check". My wife and I are clean as white paper. So let's see if USCIS will send us an RFE. If not, then I can only hope this will get resolve soon.

Hi Micky, I have a very similar timeline (AOS package received Jan 29) and my EAD/AP was delayed too - they have a backlog of cases in some offices this year. Did you file for AP as well? If you cannot expedite the EAD itself (usually you need a job offer for that), you could try to expedite the AP if possible, and since it's usually a combo card, they arrive together. I didn't really need the EAD yet, but I expedited my AP due to sick family member in my home country and an education-related trip I had to make abroad. This resulted in receiving a combo card with both the EAD and AP. Good luck!

I still wait my EAD to be approved. I have 144 days. I made 2 service request, one infopass and talk with congressmen...nothing help. I don't know what I do next.

I can't expedite. I have 153 days from when I filed AOS/EAD/EAD but they not approve me. I made all kind of service request but nothing help. I filed EAD because they messed up my ssn and I need it to can take one. I need ssn to can take drive license. I am in USA from 7 months and I am stuck in house. I can't go anywhere till my hubby come from work. I hate depends of somebody.

I filed from my son too in 19 January and even for him not have any news. I don't know what they do there. This week I will call them again.
